One tough boot on the beat

The USA-made Patrol boot is well suited for the squad car or the chase. The Patrol features GORE-TEX lining for waterproof, breathable protection and a full-grain leather and 1000 Denier nylon upper for durability. Danner’s famous stitchdown construction provides a wider platform for greater stability underfoot. The 6” height gives added ankle mobility and comfort, while the Vibram 1276 Sierra outsole provides support and traction.

Full-Grain Polishable Leather & 1000 Denier Nylon Upper
To reduce the weight of the boot, we combine our smooth, full-grain leather with incredibly strong 1000 Denier nylon. This durable upper is completely polishable.
GORE-TEX® (GTX)
100% waterproof and breathable, GORE-TEX® liners ensure that no water gets in, while allowing sweat and moisture to get out.
Vibram® 1276 Sierra Outsole
Lightweight comfort with superb shock absorption, this outsole uses a rubber compound that guarantees great traction and stability on both wet and dry surfaces.
Women's Sizing
This boot is available in men's and women's sizing, please ensure that you've selected the correct width for your needs.
Stitchdown Construction
Handcrafted to provide a wider platform, our legendary stitchdown construction offers increased stability underfoot. Many of our stitchdown boots can be recrafted.
How It Fits
The 650 last offers a sleek, slender profile with a more narrow fit. Boots on this last tend to fit those with a more narrow foot better than those with a wider foot. This ensures a snug fit for terrain and activities that demand support and stability. If you do have a wider foot, we recommend ordering an "EE" (wide) in this style.
Recraftable
Extend the life of your boot with our recrafting services. This boot is eligible for a number of services, including part replacement, leather care and restitching. See our Recrafting page.

I've used these boots for urban policing for about 7 years now and I am only now thinking of re-crafting. They have always been very comfortable even when I'm on my feet walking for an entire 10 hour shift. These are the only shoes I own that do not make my feet sore. Professionally, I can kick doors, get in foot pursuits, drudge through some of the nastiest places and these boots just ask for more. They just won't fail. So think about that, [$] orginally then another $100 dollars or so once or twice for recrafting and you only put out a maximum of $300-$500 bucks for boots over the course of a career. Considering some $100 boots fall apart in 6 months, that's a great deal. In my opinion the Patrols are serious "cop-proof" boots that are meant for nothing less than hard professional use. Danner is the only boot I will ever wear.

First of all, Danner boots are great. No doubt about that. I've had several pairs in my life as well as other brands which I use for work(construction), hunting, and just wearing around for everyday use. Danner is definitely a superior. I am, however, a bit disappointed in the Vibram Sierra outsole that comes on this particular boot and I feel like I qualify as a pretty good judge. This sole, which looks aggressive, fails in the cold or sometimes slick terrain. I threw them on once to get the mail from the mailbox at the end of the driveway and went down (slipped and fell)not once but twice before I returned to the front door (hopefully none of my neighbors saw this). Now, it was winter and it was a hard packed layer of snow and ice on the driveway but I've done this so many times successfully with other footwear. This sole has a hard plastic feel especially in the cold and feels like I'm wearing a tap shoe on hard surfaces. I would think with this type of boot (being one designed mainly for law enforcement purpose or military) would have more of a softer anti slip sole. It certainly looks aggressive and can hold up okay on rough terrain but I can't trust them fully, especially below 32°. This incident described was not the only one that lead me to this opinion either. That was just one example. Excellent boot but not with the Vibram Sierra sole. I am currently trying to find a better replacement sole for these boots so I can enjoy them. I do love Danner boots and recommend them to everyone, just not the Vibram Sierra sole. I haven't had any problems with any other soles on Danner boots, just this particular pair. I wish Danner would realize this problem and fix it or at least give options.

Comments about Patrol 6" Black:

I've used these (since APR2001), & Ft Lewis and Acadia's. The other two stretched too much. The Sierra outsole should be replaced with reg Vibram lugs (kletterlift) and the "hardening" in cold temps is alleviated. Non-issue above freezing. The Patrol has been my most satisfying Danner to date. PS customer service has been excellent the one time I needed it (not for these Patrols)

Comments about Patrol 6" Black:

I have owned a pair of these boots since 2000. I love how they clean up with a little polish and the fact that I can go anywhere and know my footing will be solid. I love the fact they can be re-soled, most other boots you have to toss because they cannot be re-soled. I have worn through 2 soles and the boot still holds up solid with great support. This is by far the best boot I have ever owned and will definatley look at buying more Danners when (or if) these ever wear out.

On the urban fire ground...

Comments about Patrol 6" Black:

I am a deputy fire chief in the Metro-Boston area. I bought this boot because sometimes, as an incident commander, I may not always start off wearing bunker pants and boots in the early stages of an incident. These "patrol" boots give me the confidence to move about the exterior of the fire building, or other emergency incident scenes, knowing my feet will stay dry and protected. They are comfortable enough to wear around the station during a 24 hour shift as well. The only con I see is the tongue. If you have a high instep, these boots have to be pulled on rather than slipped into. I have worn these boots for 3 years and they still feel great and have plenty of miles left in them. You can polish them up and they continue to look great. As for the squeak, it does disappear after break-in.
