General tips for keeping your Danners in good shape

It’s best to clean your boots regularly. You can brush away dirt and debris as often as you like and do a deeper clean when your boots are looking dirty.

Cleaning Solution

Best for: Deep cleaning footwear

Use on: Any material type including textiles

Use when: Dirt and debris have accumulated

Frequency: Every week for heavy use, every 1-2 months for light to moderate use

Brushes

Best for: Brushing off dirt and dust, applying leather conditioner

Use on: Any material type

Best for: Removing dirt from the outsole, scraping off debris

Use on: Heavy duty boots. The nylon bristles are stiff and may cause scuffs, not recommended for use on soft leather, please test before using

Best for: Removing stains and restoring nap (texture)

Use on: Suede & nubuck leathers

It’s normal for leather to dry out over time, just like our hands get dry in the wintertime. For regular wear, we recommend conditioning your boots every couple of months. For heavy use, you may want to condition your boots as often as once per week.

Full-Grain Leather

Best for: Reviving worn or dry leather

Use on: Full-grain leather only (not recommended for suede or nubuck)

Use when: Leather begins to look worn or dry. Every week for heavy use, every 1-2 months for light to moderate use

Suede & Nubuck

If your boots get wet on the inside, either due to weather or sweaty feet (don’t worry, we’ve all been there), we recommend drying them using a boot dryer after each wear. This will help keep odor-causing bacteria at bay and ensure your boots are ready for your next outing.

It’s important to keep footwear away from extreme heat sources, such as fires and cars left in direct sunlight. Drying them too quickly can prematurely damage the leather and rubber materials.

Boot Dryers

We like Peet Boot Dryers, but any footwear dryer will do.

Best for: Drying boots at home

Use when: Footwear is wet on the inside, as often as every day

Best for: Drying boots while traveling or for use in homes with limited storage space
