Overview

The Danner® Light II™ is USA-made, classically designed, and packed with features. A nubuck leather and 1000 Denier nylon upper combined with Danner stitchdown construction offer unparalleled durability and stability. The waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX® lining keeps feet dry, and the Vibram® Kletterlift outsole provides lightweight comfort, superb shock absorption, and great traction and stability on both wet and dry surfaces.

How it Fits

The 650 last offers a sleek, slender profile with a more narrow fit. Boots on this last tend to fit those with a more narrow foot better than those with a wider foot. This ensures a snug fit for terrain and activities that demand support and stability. If you do have a wider foot, we recommend ordering an "EE" (wide) in this style.

After having a pair of Acadias as my duty boot for several years now, I needed an off-duty boot that would be ok for casual wear, and be able to handle the rigors of being a hiking and outdoor boot. These fit both roles well. After having these for about 3 weeks, I took them on a 5 day / 30 mile hiking trip. We got rained on for 26 hours and hiked through some nasty/wet/muddy/rocky terrain. These boots took everything thrown at them with no problems, and my feet never got wet. Of the 5 of us, I was the only one not needing to dry my boots by the fire. When I got home, I scrubbed them with a nylon brush and they look like new. Ive worn them to a couple of Christmas parties wearing slacks and collared shirts and received compliments.

FWIW - Im a big guy at 6'4 and 350lbs so Im pretty tough on my boots, good thing is that the Danner's are tougher.

I recently retired a set of 45200 and could only praise then for the extrordinary miles / kilometers I put on them. ( every climate imaginable )Have told hundreds about Danners. Now I`m sadly disapointed with ill fitting / narrow / inner pressure point on my left ankle do to improper liner distrabution and seeing how I`m diabled with very little money and live in the mountains of North Carolina ( and it`s winter ) and I walk almost everywhere I go, I can`t send them back in for replacement because I don`t have a spare pair to use while I wait for them to be fix or replaced. I would really like to go back to my old 45200`S even though they are 12 ywars old. Sorry I donated them to charity when I did. Sadly Leo

Comments about Danner Light II 6" Brown:

It took awhile over the last few years with so many choices and options, but anyone will find a Danner Boot that meets their needs. Until this boot, I was sold on the Danner Acadia for year round cop use. For uniform patrol, their is no better boot. But for my current assignment on a task force, the Danner Light II hiker is simply the ideal choice. After one year, this boot has molded to my feet. This boot incorporates everything. With the nubuck and cordura construction there is NO MAINTENANCE of any kind. If we work in an area where the boot may come into contact with contaminants, I simply role up to a car wash bay and hose them off. There is no way you could get wet in this boot unless you submurged your feet over the ankle top (Danner makes a Fort Lewis 10 inch for this reason). These boots are light enough for running up and down multiple flights of stairs, but heavy enough to breach outer or inner doors while providing awesome support to your feet, ankles and knees. For summertime, your feet stay dry and refreshed. In winter use, simply keep your feet warm with the insulated Danner socks.

Now what do you do Danner? You come out with a military ICH series that might be a step above anything you have ever produced. For now, this is the boot. When I go to get it recrafted, the desert military vibram outsole would blend in to the appearance of this boot. Bottom line America. You get what you pay for. If you get a uniform allowance, your first purchase should be with a Danner Boot. Your feet are the core to your body. Let Danner let you treat your feet well. You will be amazed at the results.

Comments about Danner Light II 6" Brown:

First comes the disclaimer: These Danner's are not a boot for all seasons...and they are not (thank God) gimmicky, high-tech uglies either. They are a no nonsense warm-weather boot. I cannot accurately speak to their water resistance because my experience has been with a pair of its predecessor (whatever that model was called).

That's right...a single pair that I wore for 25 years; hunting and hiking in the West, over the toughest terrain that you can walk over. By the time I lost the things (which is why I'm here, to replace them) the uppers were permanently scuffed but serviceable, and the soles had a good ten years left on them. In 25 years of regular use they did not require re-soling.

I have never, and that includes 18 months in Vietnam, met a stronger, lighter, meaner pair of boots. For what they are they are the best there is.

Comments about Danner Light II 6" Brown:

This is a sad day. I've just worn out my third pair of Danner hiking boots, and that's why I'm snooping around in this catalog.

I bought my first pair when I was twenty; I turned sixty this year. Three pairs in forty years, and my first pair was stolen. These boots last. Reason to be happy!

I walk on average an hour and a half a day, on rocks, bolders and rutted fields, thorough mud and cow manure, on steep bluffs with slick descents.

Have I said I like these boots? I really like these boots!

Comments about Danner Light II 6" Brown:

I have worn these boots almost everyday for about five years and just now ordered my second pair. I'm a crop consultant who is corn, soybean, and wheat fields every day in dirt, mud, dust, and everything else you can imagine and have gotten along great with them. Other boots I have owned (even high dollar ones) the most I could get out of them was about two years. I wear a narrow width (B), and have trouble finding good quality fitting outdoor boots, and Danner has never disappointed me.

Comments about Danner Light II 6" Brown:

A friend of mine had a pair of Danner's and swore by them...he was referring to a pair of boots about 20 plus years old. I thought that was a good endorsement. I checked out a bunch of boots for an upcoming 43 mile hike and for an upcoming hike in Yosemite. I always reflected back to the Danner's because..well if someone had a pair of boots that long, they must be pretty good.

I was replacing a pair of Asolo, only had about 200 miles on them but they just pained me to wear. When I first put on the Danner Lights they felt like slippers. Very comfy. But I still had a ton of trail ahead of me and zero break-in.

Turns out, they really don't require much break-in as they are soft but supportive to begin with. I went through my first stream crossing with 100% dry feet on the other side - passed that test (and I crossed many other streams over the next few days - never had wet feet - not once!).

My toes usually take a pounding on the rocks and worse, the downhills. These boots provided plenty of protection and I had just enough room for my toes - no banging my toes on the toe box. I do wish the toe box was slightly bigger rather that tappered together but I think with time they will fit just right.

I had to play with the lacing over the first two days out to see what felt right - not too loose or too tight. I love the laces and the hooks or studs are my favorite feature of the boot - very easy to lace.

The rubber sole held up. I really punished the boots after 34 miles and I had zero issues. After inspecting the boots after the trip they seemed fine, no rips, loose stitching, they are just the same boots I went in with, with a few added scars.

My feet held up. Sure they were tired after every day, but not the usual pain I had before Danner. I had a few blisters, but mostly on my right foot as my right foot is smaller and it took me a while to adjust the boot/sock/lace combo (first trip out after all). And by blisters I mean very minor, unbroken, baby blisters (had gains and losses on 1200 to 1400 feet constantly).

Bottom line - I look forward to aging with these boots. Best of all - Made in the USA.
