Tips for the Perfect Fit

  • Measure both feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
  • Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boot. For thicker socks, you may want to select a half size larger than you normally wear.
  • When you do receive your boots, we recommend first wearing them indoors for a few hours to ensure they’re the right fit.

I have had shoes and boots made for me because I have narrow feet. In most lasts I am a C width and some high end manufacture's boots I wear a B width. (witch is very narrow.)
The normal D width in the Danner Bull Run is so tight that there is no way I would consider purchasing it even knowing that the people at the Danner store here in Portland say that they will stretch out. The fact that I had to go with a EE, which is considered to be extra wide says that this boot is made on a very narrow last. I have never been fit into a wide shoes in my life.

        Best Uses

This is a really, really good boot. Just not perfect. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could.

First off, a note about fit. I disagree that these boots run narrow. I typically wear a 10.5 and my foot is on the wider side. 10D in this boot fits me great, maybe even a little wider than I need. (For reference, my foot measures 10.5" long and 4" wide at the widest point.) Plenty of room even with thick socks.

Good stuff: I love the overall look, I can wear these for work and going out. Leather is really quite thick, but break-in for me is mostly a non-issue. I was able to wear them all day for work the first day I got them. (Warehouse job, on my feet and walking a lot...) And then after work they are comfy enough that I just keep wearing them. I think people reporting a long painful break-in do not have the correct foot for this last. But hey, to each his own.

I can't give it a 5 because of the tongue design. I feel it needs to be a bit wider both where it is connected to the boot and above that point. It is difficult to get the tongue tucked in and if it slips over even a little bit it sort of pops out from inside the boot. Hoping this reduces as they break in, but I generally have to adjust the tongue a couple times per day. It seems to only happen on the right side which is weird.

As for the sole I like the style and it's comfy. I do wish I had a bit more snow/ice traction, so when I get these resoled I will probably go with a more traditional vibram lug sole. But it does keep my feet happy while standing all day.

          Best Uses

          • Casual Light Duty Dry Use

I bought these based on the posted weight and reputation of the white sole for shock absorbing qualities, in these respects they delivered.
I have been a bit dissipointed in the inconsistancies of construction, the left boot is like a house slipper but the right boot pinches the top of the foot while striding and the toung allways has to be pulled to the outside or it ends up offsetting to the inside as I tie the boot. The sole has zero grip on smooth wet concrete and wears quickly. The white sole stains and I've found no way of making it look any better

I have a rather narrow foot and prefer a streamlined design; this work boot offers both. The christy sole looks cool and feels great but wears down FAST, especially if you're working on rough concrete. I use these in the winter with a pair of wool socks and they are surprisingly good at keeping my feet warm and dry. That said, the lack of tread makes snow and ice difficult.

Overall, the fit and finish is on par or better than Red Wings I've looked at. And for the price, there's not a boot that comes close.

GREAT BOOT/BAD SOLE FOR OILY SURFACES

THESE REPLACED MY 2.5 YR OLD WORKMAN ROMEOS. THEY TOOK 5 DAYS OF WORKING IN THEM TO BREAK IN. BREAK IN WAS NOT TERRIBLY PAINFUL. I DIDN'T FEEL MUCH OF A BREAK-IN AT ALL WITH MY OLD ROMEOS, BUT THESE BULL RUNS DO NOT HAVE ANY LINING MATERIAL WHATSOEVER, SO I WAS EXPECTING THE PLAIN LEATHER TO MAKE ITSELF KNOWN TO MY FEET. ON THE 6TH DAY OF USE, THE COMFORT BEGAN AND HAS BEEN GREAT.DUE TO THE PLAIN LEATHER, THESE ARE NOT WATER PROOF AND YOU WILL FEEL MOISTURE IF YOU GET THEM WET (THAT'S WITH 1 APPLICATION OF THE WATERPROOFING GEL). MY COMPLAINT ON THESE IS SPECIFIC TO MY WORK ENVIRONMENT. I AM AN AUTO MECHANIC AND THE SHOP CONSTANTLY HAS SOME PETROLIUM BASED PRODUCT ON THE GROUND. THE SOLES ON THESE ARE NO WHERE NEAR OIL RESISTANT. I HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL ON SLIPPERLY SURFACES NOW. THE SOLE ON THE WORKMAN ROMEO WAS MUCH BETTER ON OILY SURFACES AND ALSO DID NOT CREATE STATIC ELECTRICITY WHICH I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING IN THESE BULL RUNS. OVERALL, I THINK THESE ARE A GREAT BOOT AND SO FAR, VERY COMFORTABLE (ESPECIALLY WITH A PAIR OF DANNER PRONGHORN HUNTING SOCKS!! I NEED A FEW MORE PAIRS OF THOSE...). IF YOU ARE IN A SLIPPERY WORK ENVIRONMENT, SKIP THESE AND GET ONE OF THE BOOTS WITH THE WORKMAN STYLE SOLE. YOU'LL BE A LOT SAFER THAT WAY.
