Reintroducing an '80s Original

The original Danner Jag debuted in the '80s as a lightweight alternative to our classic, heavy-duty hiking boots. After a few years on the trail supporting external frame backpacks and complementing denim cut-offs, the Jag was retired. Now 30 years later, we’ve reintroduced the Jag as a more versatile version of its former self. It’s comfortable both on the trail and around town, and incorporates durable, lightweight materials, a cushioning EVA midsole, and a new waffle outsole that adapts to a wide variety of terrain. We’re proud to reintroduce this Danner original.

Come Rain or Shine

Wet feet quickly sap the fun from any day. That’s why we built the Jag Mid with our signature Danner Dry 100% waterproof membrane and the Jag Low with a breathable mesh lining. Keep the moisture out with Danner Dry when the skies open up, and let heat quickly escape from the breathable mesh lining when the weather turns and temperatures rise. So no matter where you roam, rain or shine, your feet will be comfortable with the Jag.

Retro Style and Modern Performance for Daily Comfort

To ensure the Jag is comfortable in any situation, we approached its development with a focus on lightweight versatility. Starting at the core of the boot, we developed a new last that offers more room in the toe box and gives the boot an overall more comfortable and casual fit. An EVA midsole and low-lugged waffle outsole keep the boot light, while a removable OrthoLite footbed adds cushioning underfoot. All told, you get a vintage style boot that fits more like a modern sneaker to keep you light on your feet and ready for what the day holds.

Same Great Boot, Just 30 Years Better.

When we decided to bring the Jag back, we saw it as an opportunity to keep all the greatness of the original but refine it with 30 years worth of advancement and hard-won knowledge. We refined the original pattern just enough to be slightly more streamlined and integrate more modern materials without losing its quintessential '80s aesthetic. Perfecting the colors was a must and the original Jag was a key source of inspiration as we selected full-grain leathers and highly durable nylon to bring the updated pattern to life. Lastly, we used a waffle-style outsole, common on vintage athletic shoes, to give universal grip from trail to town. The result is an updated Jag that proudly reflects the original's 1980s vibe and carries on its legacy.
