Celebrating Premium Footwear Manufacturing
For the second year, we've joined forces with New Balance for the American Pioneer Project. The inspiration for the 2017 collaboration is the legend behind the Portland Penny. More than a century ago, New England natives Asa Lovejoy, a lawyer from Boston, MA, and Francis Pettygrove, of Portland, Maine, flipped a copper one-cent coin to decide who would name the land that is now Portland, OR. Pettygrove won the famous toss, and the name “Portland Penny” was subsequently given to the coin. The historical exchange inspired the project, with both brands choosing colors and design elements to pay homage to the copper coin.
