Quick Overview

Handcrafted for those who protect our wilderness, the WTF is one of the most effective wildland firefighting boots on the market today.
Details

For those who protect our wilderness

Our all-new Wildland Tactical Firefighter blends the lightweight and supportive benefits of an alpine hiker with the stringent standards of an NFPA-certified boot. Featuring fire-resistant, durable, rough-out leather and a breathable mesh lining, the boot is handcrafted in our Portland, Oregon, factory with a reinforced opanka-stitch construction that provides a superior bond between the upper and outsole. The durable, Vibram S587 outsole is specially designed for oil- and slip-resistant traction over rugged and high-angle terrain.

Fire Resistant Leather Upper
Chemically treated to be fire resistant, our rough-out leather is known for its natural durability.
VibramĀ® S587 Fire & Ice outsole
Ideal for rugged and high-angle terrain with an oil-and slip-resistant compound that still maintains traction in extreme cold and hot environments.
Extended Sizes
To accommodate more people, we've made this boot in extended sizes. We recommend women select 1.5 to 2 full sizes down for correct fit.
WTF Platform Construction
For optimal rigidity and stability underfoot, we combine a full-length polypropylene board with an integrated steel shank in this construction method.
How It Fits
The 851 last is an update to our popular 850 last. This last fits true to size with an athletic and supportive fit while providing ample room in the toe. Offering a specific heel shape that locks the heel in place for better fit and comfort on the back end of the boot, this supportive fit is ideal for those needing high mileage performance from their gear.

Made in USA with Imported Components

We source the best materials from around the world and utilize some construction work overseas before shipping partially assembled components to be finished in our Portland, Oregon factory. Once in our factory, the boot uppers are formed and the entire bottom of the boot is constructed by hand, giving us greater control over the finished product. This manufacturing process allows us to bring you a less expensive USA made boot without compromising the quality you expect from Danner.

Wildland firefighter out of Florida. Owned Super Rain Forest before buying this one. Big difference as far as weight. This tactical boot is very light and comfortable. No break in time. They are also a lot better than White's (own a pair of rough out smoke jumpers) and Rain Forest as far as water resistant. No they are not water proof, but it takes longer for water to penetrate.

Boot comfy, the laces are junk. Broke the lace on first pull

By champ306

Comments about Wildland Tactical Firefighter 8" Black:

would expect the laces to last longer than 5 minutes. First good pull and it snapped. Had to rob laces off my Bellvilles to meet mission. Was disappointing for a 300+ dollar pair of boots.
Boot is comfy, seems good to work in, been happy with them besides the lace issue. I love Danner, love their boots, but expect for the premium price of Made in the USA that we get our money's worth.

comfortable for 4 months

By steve

from los angeles

Comments about Wildland Tactical Firefighter 8" Black:

I have been doing a lot of training of inmate firefighters and the boot is very comfortable with no break in time. however i also had a hook break within one month of receiving it. i have had the boots in use for 3 1/2 months and the soles are in need of repair. have not been in real heat yet, but put at least 30 miles a week in the hills and again are comfortable, but the soles are now an issue and don't see buying 3 pairs a year or trying having them resoled if possible. going back to a more traditional boot...

Seem great

By NB

Comments about Wildland Tactical Firefighter 8" Black:

Agree with other reviews on the laces. I took one look at those and bought Rhino laces along with the boots. Did a short break in PT hike in them yesterday. No hot spots and they feel great on my feet.
