Quick Overview

To you, they're rugged work boots with waterproof GORE-TEX® liners and ground-chewing, ultra-stable soles. To a bootmaker in Portland, Oregon, they're a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Women's sizes available.
Details

Our USA-made staple for rugged, outdoor work.

A great all-purpose work boot, the Rain Forest GTX boot is lined in GORE-TEX for breathable, waterproof protection and features full-grain leather for rugged durability. Stitchdown construction means a wider platform for greater stability, and angled lugs in the outsole provide substantial support whether ascending or descending. Center lugs deliver maximum traction on wet and dry surfaces.

Full-Grain Leather Upper
To ensure its quality, we put our leather through six different tests before making our selection. Our full-grain leathers are the strongest and most durable form of leather.
GORE-TEX® (GTX)
100% waterproof and breathable, GORE-TEX® liners ensure that no water gets in, while allowing sweat and moisture to get out.
Triple Stitched
Hyper-strong thread is used to triple stitch our toughest boots.
Electrical Hazard (EH) Protection
Meets or exceeds ASTM F2892-11 EH. Electrical hazard (EH) footwear is manufactured with non-conductive electrical shock resistant soles and heels.
Vibram® 132 Montagna Outsole
Using a premium, work specific compound, this outsole is more stable underfoot. The durable, deep-lugged rubber provides unparalleled traction in any work environment.
Women's Sizing
This boot is available in men's and women's sizing, please ensure that you've selected the correct width for your needs.
Stitchdown Construction
Handcrafted to provide a wider platform, our legendary stitchdown construction offers increased stability underfoot. Many of our stitchdown boots can be recrafted.
How It Fits
The 650 last offers a sleek, slender profile with a more narrow fit. Boots on this last tend to fit those with a more narrow foot better than those with a wider foot. This ensures a snug fit for terrain and activities that demand support and stability. If you do have a wider foot, we recommend ordering an "EE" (wide) in this style.
Recraftable
Extend the life of your boot with our recrafting services. This boot is eligible for a number of services, including part replacement, leather care and restitching. See our Recrafting page.

First pair of Danners I have ever purchased and it sure won't be the last!. I usually buy a boot with a Wing in it's name. Finally a boot that is durable and comforable enough to wear every day. Plus it has the American flag on the boot shown that this product is made in the good ol' USA. Find a Wing that does that!!!! Buy American and support an American company making their product here.

It's always been difficult for me to find fire boots that fit. Often it seems like manufacturers just take a men's boot and make it narrower. Women typically have narrower heels than men (the case with me). If they fit me in the heel they're usually too narrow in the toe box. If I try on a men's boot, if they fit me in the toe box they're too wide in the heel (slippage=blisters). Great boot, but my toes were squished and became numb within 10 minutes. On to the next.

Comments about Rain Forest 8" Black:

I own a land and wildlife management company. I use these boots everyday on the job, and wear them around the house. My state forestry service uses Danner boots too. They sold me on them. I like the fact that they are made in the USA. These are the "Super Duty" of boots. They are very well made. I also like that they are recraftable. The only complaint I have is the price.

I wear this boot everyday and for the last 3 months I've used them on rocky terrain, gravel, in fields and walked through streams, all without any problems. They are a good looking boot and have protected my feet and kept them dry.

Comments about Rain Forest 8" Black:

I've had my boots for five years doing land surveying. They are great in extremely wet and muddy conditions, as well as carrying heavy loads in steep terrain.

I abused them terribly, leaving them wet and muddy overnight frequently, but they still lasted five years. I've since learned to take care of my boots, but it was too late for this pair. I'll be buying a new pair right away.

A great boot; I would wear anything else!

Comments about Rain Forest 8" Black:

The Rain Forest Plain Toe work boot is an excellent product! I have used them as my primary duty boot the past several years, with nothing but positive success. In all types of weather or harsh conditions, they have proved to be a great value for the money I spent. Danner is my only choice for duty boots at the fire department and my off duty recreational use.
