Under that traditional looking facade is one advanced boot

The USA-made Recon is tough and traditional in appearance, and comfortable in application. It delivers stability and support with its all-leather stitchdown construction, which provides a wider platform for increased stability underfoot. 200G Thinsulate Insulation provides warmth, GORE-TEX lining delivers waterproof, breathable protection, and the lace-to-toe design offers a secure fit.

Full-Grain Polishable Leather Upper
Made from a smooth, full-grain leather, this strong and durable upper is completely polishable.
GORE-TEX® (GTX)
100% waterproof and breathable, GORE-TEX® liners ensure that no water gets in, while allowing sweat and moisture to get out.
200G Thinsulate Insulation
High-performance insulation that keeps you warm in the snow and rain without weighing you down.
Vibram® Kletterlift Outsole
Specifically designed for comfort and durability; the heel provides superb shock absorption and the rubber compound guarantees great traction and stability on both wet and dry surfaces.
Women's Sizing
This boot is available in men's and women's sizing, please ensure that you've selected the correct width for your needs.
Stitchdown Construction
Handcrafted to provide a wider platform, our legendary stitchdown construction offers increased stability underfoot. Many of our stitchdown boots can be recrafted.
How It Fits
The 650 last offers a sleek, slender profile with a more narrow fit. Boots on this last tend to fit those with a more narrow foot better than those with a wider foot. This ensures a snug fit for terrain and activities that demand support and stability. If you do have a wider foot, we recommend ordering an "EE" (wide) in this style.
Recraftable
Extend the life of your boot with our recrafting services. This boot is eligible for a number of services, including part replacement, leather care and restitching. See our Recrafting page.

I have had numerous brands of boots throughout my long career and have never found anything which compares to Danner. I have always liked the look of the Recons and wanted to buy a pair. The world's recent emphasis to "Go Green" is what I used to rationalize the my purchase. I figured I would be helping the planet by purchasing a pair of boots that could be recrafted instead of a pair which had to be thrown away when the soles wore out. This concept will no doubt save many cow hides and the planet's rubber resources. The Recons were exactly what I imagined they would be. Lets be honest, it's hard to find a comfortable cool looking pair of boots that do not look goofy. The Recons look and feel great. I am very pleased with my purchase. I have been in law enforcement for 17 years and have 14 years left. I want to make these boots the last pair I ever have to purchase. I will have them recrafted through Danner when need be and keep a tab on my experience. I think I saved the best boot of my career for last when I made the decision to buy Danner Recons. Thanks

Began wearing danner in 2000 at urging of local boot store in business for 25 years. happy with my first 3 pair, on my fourth pair of recons the liner pulled out of the boot with my foot. Sent to danner for repair. was told it would cost as much as new pair to fix. i purchased the srykers to replace my recons. In less than a year both soles are split accross the arch. went to my boot guy and he is now out of business, surely due to danner inferior product. hope they are making enough off of the GSA contract. Their losing fire/ems daily.

Comments about Recon 8" Black 200G:

I'm trying out my first pair of Danner boots, been wearing Red Wings since 94 had them resoled on a few pairs and can't complain about thier quality. I'm an Industrial Plumber since 85 and always wore Timberlands. Hey what did I know? Till I finally broke down and learned the value of a good boot. Well I finally broke down again and bought a pair of Danners for my full time job, Firefighter. Anyway have been very disappointed in Red Wing with them making a lot of there boots overseas, and couldn't get a good pair of black boots made here. So, had them for almost a week now, and they feel good. Only bad thing I can say so far is, they don't come with the foam liners, I went out and bought some. For the price I think they should have come with them as opposed to the plastic heel cups.

Comments about Recon 8" Black 200G:

Great Boot. I have worn the same pair of them now for about 4 years and am on the 3rd pair of soles. I have changed out the sole pattern to the Vibram Sierra and found that it made the boot even better. I really cant think of one thing bad to say about the boot. It is comfortable, durable, well made, and MADE IN AMERICA. It also takes a shine quite well, and the only thing I do with it is rub in some of the Danner leather treatment gel stuff that I got when I bought the boots. The leather is still in great condition after 4 years of patrol work, including the salt and snow of Wisconsin winters and anything else my feet have thrown at them.
