Details

Our toughest law enforcement boot

Created with the help of two career Army officers from Fort Lewis, Washington, the USA-made Fort Lewis is FORSCOM approved and loaded with all the features a warrior or law enforcement professional needs. A cushioning Vibram Kletterlift outsole fights fatigue on long marches. Made of a specialized dry ice compound, the outsole remains flexible in extreme cold to aid slip resistance. The full-grain leather upper and GORE-TEX lining keeps the boot waterproof. Danner’s famous stitchdown construction gives a more stable platform underfoot and superior durability. Features 200G Thinsulate.

Full-Grain Leather Upper
To ensure its quality, we put our leather through six different tests before making our selection. Our full-grain leathers are the strongest and most durable form of leather.
Full-Grain Polishable Leather Upper
Made from a smooth, full-grain leather, this strong and durable upper is completely polishable.
GORE-TEX® (GTX)
100% waterproof and breathable, GORE-TEX® liners ensure that no water gets in, while allowing sweat and moisture to get out.
FORSCOM Approved
Approved for wear by the U.S. Army Forces Command.
200G Thinsulate Insulation
High-performance insulation that keeps you warm in the snow and rain without weighing you down.
Vibram® Kletterlift Outsole
Specifically designed for comfort and durability; the heel provides superb shock absorption and the rubber compound guarantees great traction and stability on both wet and dry surfaces.
Women's Sizing
This boot is available in men's and women's sizing, please ensure that you've selected the correct width for your needs.
Stitchdown Construction
Handcrafted to provide a wider platform, our legendary stitchdown construction offers increased stability underfoot. Many of our stitchdown boots can be recrafted.
How It Fits
The 650 last offers a sleek, slender profile with a more narrow fit. Boots on this last tend to fit those with a more narrow foot better than those with a wider foot. This ensures a snug fit for terrain and activities that demand support and stability. If you do have a wider foot, we recommend ordering an "EE" (wide) in this style.
Recraftable
Extend the life of your boot with our recrafting services. This boot is eligible for a number of services, including part replacement, leather care and restitching. See our Recrafting page.

I was in Company E (Long Range Surveillance Company Airborne)- 109th Military Intelligence Battalion
9th Infantry Division at Fort Lewis in 1985 when my unit (privately) purchased these boots. {Our unit had certain exceptions to 9th Division uniform policy}
We soldiered in them daily- road marching hundreds of miles in them and dropping out of all of the Army inventory of jump aircraft- from C-141 Star Lifter to C-130 Dirty Hercules to helicopters like the CH-47 dual rotor or UH-60 Black Hawks or UH-1 Hueys.... the boot keeps a paratroopers feet firmy rooted to the earth on land and a nice platform for parachute operations in the air. I've trained in desert, Arctic conditions or muddy wet rainforest conditions regularly for months on end in each of these zones. I've worn mine to combat in a number of wars and never found them wanting. A soldier's weapons and his boots are life to him. The Danner "Fort Lewis" is a badacc boot for America's top military men- get a pair you won't be sorry.

Comments about Fort Lewis 10" Black 200G:

I am a member of the RCMP stationed in Northern Canada. I have heard many good things about Danner, but only recently purchased my first pair.

My feet were slightly sore after the first day, but the boots have fit like gloves ever since. They hold polish well, and are reasonably warm. The only major problem with these boots are that lacing them can be somewhat time consuming; a side-zip feature should be an option in the future.

As for warmth, it is not uncommon to reach -45C here, and these boots have done fairly well so far. So long as you are moving, your feet stay comfortable. If I had to be stationary for any long period of time, I would need to wear a different pair of boots.

All things considered, I am very happy with my purchase. I expect to be wearing these boots for a very long time.

Comments about Fort Lewis 10" Black 200G:

The Fort Lewis boot is an excellent boot for the money. I purchased mine in 1990 while in the Army and wore them 3 days per week on average for almost 6 years. After leaving the Army, I continued to wear them for hiking and hunting. I recently sent them to Danner for recrafting. Hopefully, they will last for many more years. If this pair ever wears out, I will definitely buy another pair.

Comments about Fort Lewis 10" Black 200G:

Let me start off by saying I am in the United States Navy and I am on my feet 12 or more hours a day on shore and ship. I have purchased and tried half a dozen different kinds of boots and none of them match up to the supier quality of these Danners. These Fort Lewis Danners are obsolutely the best pair of boots I have ever owned. They fit great, they look good and most importantly in my line of work when you are on your feet constantly these boots feel good. I have mor energy and less fatigue now. My Feet Thank You. Thanks for not only making the best boots in the world but making them for the Troops.

    Thanks Danner,
    PC1(SW) Charlie Dry, USN

Comments about Fort Lewis 10" Black 200G:

These boots were purchased about 18 years ago. They are still in excellent condition with most of the sole life left because I use them only for cool to cold weather hunting. There were pressure points in the thickly padded tongue that took at least a week of wearing to break-in. Since then, they have been comfortable. If temperature is above 40 Fahrenheit and you are moving around, boots tend to get too hot. There seems to be enough insulation for comfort down to 0 Fahrenheit. I tried using the boots as warm weather motorcycle boots, but they were too hot. If using the boots in sub-zero weather, I would advise adding insulated insoles. I would like the boots to be lighter, but these are for heavy duty use and seem no heavier than any other similar boot. One of the main reasons I bought the boots was the fact I could have them refurbished when I wear out the soles. Since I moved to Montana, I am using the boots more than when I lived in Texas. If I'm out in the boonies in winter, these are the boots on my feet as they are absolutely waterproof and the warmest high topped leather boots I own. I was out one day with famous brand hiking boots, and one of the soles literally separated and fell off. That would be life threatening in a backcountry situation. I don't think anything like that will ever happen to my Danner Ft. Lewis boots. The cost is high, but my uninsulated Gore-Tex Italian motorcycle boots cost even more. I consider these boots one of my most important pieces of hunting gear.
