The perfect balance of comfort, support, and durability.

In your line of work, there is no typical day on the job. So we overbuilt the Striker II EMS with Armor Flex puncture-resistant midsoles and CROSSTECH blood-borne pathogen-blocking technology. Designed on the TFX Lite platform, the Striker II EMS provides a lightweight superior fit for agility and stability. With a certified non-metallic toe that won't set off metal-based security systems, the Striker II EMS is ready to protect and serve.

Full-Grain Polishable Leather Upper
Made from a smooth, full-grain leather, this strong and durable upper is completely polishable.
CROSSTECH® Fabric
Engineered to give you superior penetration resistance against water, blood, body fluids, and common accident-scene chemicals while still providing the breathable comfort of GORE-TEX.
Side Zip
Get in and out of your boots faster with this semi-locking side zipper. It locks itself closed when its zipped up, yet easily releases when you pull the zipper down.
Pro-Tec NMT
The lightweight non-metallic toe meets F2413-11 M I/75 C/75 EH certification for protective footwear and resists the conduction of heat and cold.
Flex Shield II Midsole
This puncture-resistant midsole is lightweight, non-metallic and flexible. We tested it to 340 lbs, so it far exceeds ASTM F2413-11 requirements for a puncture resistant midsole of 70 lbs.
Danner TFX Lite Outsole
Oil- and slip-resistant outsole provides superior grip, traction and stability without added weight.
Extended Sizes
To accommodate more people, we've made this boot in extended sizes. We recommend women select 1.5 to 2 full sizes down for correct fit.
Terra Force X Lite Platform
Provides lightweight, durable traction, heel-to-toe energy transfer, side support to enhance maneuverability, and protection from arch overwork and fatigue.
How It Fits
This boot is built on our most popular last, the 850. This last fits true to size with an athletic and supportive fit while providing ample room in the toe. This comfortable, supportive fit is ideal for those needing high mileage performance from their gear.

I believe Danner managed to fix the zipper issue. It is still a plastic zipper, but I have been wearing this pair every day at work since July or so of 2012 without issue. I did encounter he same zipper failure as mentioned in a pair I had before this current pair, this pair was a warranty replacement from the local Danner authorized retailer. (Sorry online, your shipping to Alaska was way too much at the time)

I am very hard on boots. I also have very specific desires for my work boots. I prefer the nonmetallic safety toe as it is lighter, I like a full length boot for ankle protection, a side Zipper since I hate mornings, and black- none of this tan junk.

They hold up very well under a variety of conditions. It was nearly 100F during the summer 2013, and they didn't make my feet too horribly hot. They also keep me toasty during the Fairbanks winters at -40 or colder. They stay flexible on the ice and thaw FAST so I don't slide too much upon entering buildings either. The soles hold up well, and are pretty good on sheets of ice too. I only tend to start slipping and sliding when they nearly worn to bits and don't have much visible traction left on them. I have notice that takes nearly 3 years to happen.

They are light weight, much better than other options available out there. The souls also do not lock on to ladder rungs and cause falls.

I do tend to add "boot toe bumpers" over the toes, as I do flooring during the summer and that will eat up any boot's leather due to all of that crawling around on my knees.

I am very pleased with the EMS style, as they don't seem to pick up unwanted odors if dealing with a bit of gray water. The regular strikers will. It was worth the extra money.

They are quite water resistant, but I do spray them down with some water seal as needed too.

This pair has much better eyelets than the last too, none have come out.

My only con right now is price. My work is stingy and only gives us a $100 shoe allowance, and it doesn't roll over each year if it isn't used. You don't use it, you loose it. You can't buy any good safety toed boots for that. So I end up paying the other half out of pocket. It is expensive, but I really like these boots.

I want to like this boot- but I found a serious flaw. I purchased the boot for the composite toe and zipper function as well as the well-known quality of the Danner line. Only about two months into wearing the boots, the zippers started to fail. One zipper seemed to pop off in the process of zipping up after a call, the other just fell off. I inspect the zippers and found them to be of low quality plastic (cheap). I figure Danner doesn't make the zippers, so it may not be entirely their fault. I just wish they had chosen a more quality zipper on an otherwise great piece of footwear.

Comments about Striker II EMS 8" Black NMT:

I have been really happy with this boot until about the 10th time I wore them. I was responding to a call of a knife fight and as I got out of my patrol car. My zipper popped. As I Was running through the store, my boot was falling off. I had the distinct honor of having to duct tape my boot on for the remainder of the shift. I saw that tha sliding part of the zipper was cracked. Do not buy this boot if you rely on them for a public safety application

      Cheap Zipper ruins good boot

Comments about Striker II EMS 8" Black NMT:

Got these as an EMS duty boot. They seem [...] good, high quality boot except that the plastic zipper breaks very easily. I broke the zipper on the first pair the first time I put them on (other than trying them on at the store). I called Danner and they sent a replacement pair, which broke the second time I put them on. I called Danner and had them sent me a lace-up pair. I'll have to get a lace zipper insert. The zipper is made of plastic and is a YKK Vislon brand zipper. If you look around, you'll see that there alot of complaints about these zippers breaking. Danner said that there is no metal in this boot. This is for EMS workers who work at airports. I suggested them use metal zippers and ditch the plastic. I don't nkow if they'll listen....

One problem, but a big one

Comments about Striker II EMS 8" Black NMT:

The material of the sole is great.. comfortable dont change a thing. EXCEPT that the shark fin shaped ridge coming up from the ribber sole over the leather where the leather meets the sole (can be seen in picture). I wear EE and it still bit me in the side of the foot near the arch.. Not a sizing issue as far as I can tell.. but having a shark fin/tooth shaped protusion mid shoe on the boot, especially on the arch side seems to be a really bad idea. Is it there for looks or support? Your other boots dont have this and their support is fine. I wish this one did not have it.. its like the thorn in the lions paw. I'll probably cut mine off as it is just rubber on the out side.. or maybe use a heat gun and bend it out.. it looks cool and sharp but why is it there?

      DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

Comments about Striker II EMS 8" Black NMT:

This is my fourth pair of Danner Stiker Boots and the only reason I had to replace my old pair was that they were simply worn out. When I received my new pair, I was very disappointed to find that they were not the same old striker boot. They were uncomfortable, rubbing against my heel, top of the toes and ankle. Danner would you PLEASSSE!!! bring back the old Striker boot?
