Tips for the Perfect Fit

  • Measure both feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
  • Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boot. For thicker socks, you may want to select a half size larger than you normally wear.
  • When you do receive your boots, we recommend first wearing them indoors for a few hours to ensure they’re the right fit.

Free Return Shipping

Comments about Danner Ridgemaster GTX 400G Hunting Boots:

Wear-all-day comfortable right out of the box.
400 gram Thinsulate just right for cold November stalking/hunting.
A little tight getting foot into boot, a fair trade-off for full height waterproofing.

Comments about Danner Ridgemaster GTX 400G Hunting Boots:

I wear these boots everyday for work, hiking and hunting. They are very comfortable but seem a touch wider than my old Original Style Pronghorns. Not as initially comfortable as the Pronghorns but are getting better the longer I wear them. Very pleased that I can finally purchase a MADE IN USA boot. Only had them a few weeks so I'm hoping they hold up as well as my old Pronghorn.

Comments about Danner Ridgemaster GTX 400G Hunting Boots:

This is hands down the best boot I've ever used. We have a lot of crazy weather here in Oregon so a waterproof boot is required, traction is great especially in the snow which is suprising considering the tread depth. Overall comfort is perfection my feet don't sweet even in 100 degree weather or long days in the shop. I'm on my feet 14 hrs a day and I can tell you these perform. In fact I threw away my merrell Moab shoes cause I prefer these boots. :)

Comments about Danner Ridgemaster GTX 400G Hunting Boots:

I'm a geologist, not a hunter, but my work leads me to the Oregon backcountry just as frequently as if I were a hunter. I bought these boots for a trip out to the high desert late last spring where I knew I'd be hiking some of the roughest terrain this side of the rockies. Whether I was walking through high-scrub and dodging ticks, climbing a volcanic outcrop, trekking across mounds of loose, broken rock upwards of 6 feet deep, or clambering through ash and dunes, these badboys didn't fail to perform.

The soles keep you light on your feet, even if you're caught in a rockslide or on a muddy slope. I've used them on every hiking, camping, and work trip since then, ranging from trekking across the beaches of southern Oregon, hiking Mt. St. Helens, and even just walking around downtown Portland. I've never worn a more comfortable, sturdier boot.

My only complaint, and boy is it a minor gripe, is that at least in the EE (wide) size, the tongue doesn't like to straighten up, even when tightly laced, and the inside can pinch and rub if I don't situate it just right before cinching it up.

I hiked through tidal pools and high tides, snowmelt pools and through shallow riverbank waters wearing these and not yet once have my socks gotten wet. They stay toasty-warm in the cold, but even in the desert my feet never got uncomfortably hot. I love these boots and when they wear out (if they ever do, there's no sign of it even beginning yet) you can be sure my replacements will be Danners.

Comments about Danner Ridgemaster GTX 400G Hunting Boots:

Wanted a pair of these as soon as I saw they were out on danners site. Bought them for cool weather bird and whitetail hunting and hiking and fall fishing. Very pleased to spend a little extra $ to get the made in the usa quality put into these boots. I went with the 400g insulated version. For me, with a pair if mid weight merino wool socks, comfortable to the 35 degree range if sitting and into the 20s if I'm moving around. Fits true to size. Very lightweight. Excellent support and fit my foot shape perfectly. I always try to break in my new kicks before hitting the woods or trail but honestly these would have been totally fine to wear right out of the box without any hot spots or weird flex points. They work fine with my winter traction products for icy trails here in Minnesota. The tread is pretty subdued, if I could improve them in any way it would be just a bit deeper lugs, but I believe that is part of the reason they feel so sporty and not clunky. So far two thumbs up. Hope they last as long as my last pair. (Which I had recrafted by the danner folks... Highly recommended if you have a hard time parting with a favorite pair of boots like me)
