Details

American crafted for American craftsmen

Over ten years ago, we released the very first Quarry work boot. Since then, it has become a staple for workers around the country. And now, for the first time, we've brought manufacturing of the Quarry, using imported parts, to our Portland, Oregon, factory, at the same time making major improvements to its comfort and durability.

Built to last

Through research and evaluation of previously worn Quarrys, we noticed the midsole was one of the first parts of the boot to break down. For that reason we worked with Vibram to integrate a new highly durable, 12 Iron Vibram midsole with our updated and rugged outsoles.

Wear more. Buy less.

Through a comprehensive field test, we noticed that the back heel stitch was a high wear area from workers kicking their boots off at the end of the day. With a simple redesign, we built additional durability into the Quarry by simply moving the back stitch to the outside of the heel.

Increased comfort

Anyone who wears boots all day knows that comfort is essential. With the launch of the new Quarry, we integrated a construction developed for the military that features a highly comfortable, breathable and extremely durable collar, requiring absolutely no break in time.
Nubuck Leather Upper
Our top-grain leather is sanded on the outside to give it a slight nap with a velvet-like feel. This leather upper is extremely durable, while offering a shorter and more comfortable break-in period.
GORE-TEX® (GTX)
100% waterproof and breathable, GORE-TEX® liners ensure that no water gets in, while allowing sweat and moisture to get out.
Triple Stitched
Hyper-strong thread is used to triple stitch our toughest boots.
Alloy Toe (AT)
Our alloy toe meets or exceeds ASTM F2413-11M I/75 C/75 EH standards and ASTM F2413-11 F I/75 C/75 EH.
Electrical Hazard (EH) Protection
Meets or exceeds ASTM F2892-11 EH. Electrical hazard (EH) footwear is manufactured with non-conductive electrical shock resistant soles and heels.
Quarry Midsole
Upgraded the midsole to a single, solid piece for increased longevity
Vibram® Quarry Outsole
This exclusive outsole features a 90º heel, an oil- and slip- resistant rubber compound, and a non-linear lug pattern for superior traction and debris release.
Stitchdown Construction
Handcrafted to provide a wider platform, our legendary stitchdown construction offers increased stability underfoot. Many of our stitchdown boots can be recrafted.
How It Fits
The 610 is our most universal last and can be worn by all foot shapes and sizes. It provides a snug fit through the heel while allowing ample toe room for most versatile fit. This allows more support and side-to-side movement.
Recraftable
Extend the life of your boot with our recrafting services. This boot is eligible for a number of services, including part replacement, leather care and restitching. See our Recrafting page.

Made in USA with Imported Components

We source the best materials from around the world and utilize some construction work overseas before shipping partially assembled components to be finished in our Portland, Oregon factory. Once in our factory, the boot uppers are formed and the entire bottom of the boot is constructed by hand, giving us greater control over the finished product. This manufacturing process allows us to bring you a less expensive USA made boot without compromising the quality you expect from Danner.

I work in a shop and need solid protection with comfort and durability that lasts. I had a pair of these for 10 years before that travelled and work all around the globe with me from Antarctica to Greenland but while they still had some miles left in them I didn't need the extra insulation that pair had so I opted for a new set. Everyone should know that these take love and time to become a long lasting favorite. You have to go through the process to properly break them in before you have to wear them 10 hour a day. But once you get to that sweet spot it lasts and lasts.

I'm a heavy equipment mechanic by trade. This is my second pair of Danner boots after wearing redwings for over 10 years. Purchased the Quarry boots 3/23/15. I've been in them now for almost 7 months. My first impression was excellent in every way. Comfort, style, craftsmanship. However, this was short lived. The boots are now worn out. Leather quality isn't what I expected and wore very quickly. Working on concrete daily and dragging my toes while kneeling and crawling rapidly wore through the toe. This is expected right? Well, this is the first pair of boots I've ever owned that did that so rapidly. I was worn through the toe within 3 months after I started wearing them. I believe that the leather grain is far too coarse. As it wore, it became very "stringy" and tore easily which accelerated the problem. The soles I really like, but also are worn over halfway as of today. This is beginning to sound like a long list of complaints from an unhappy customer who abuses his boots. However, I'm not unhappy at all. I love these boots! They are the best boots I've ever put on my feet. By far the most comfortable with virtually no break-in. I just wish I could somehow get more life from them. Danner, change the leather used to make these boots! Take what's already great about these boots and turn them into a long lived excellence!

Comments about Quarry USA 8" Distressed Brown AT:

I'm a pipe welder. I understand that in my line of work, boots don't last long. However, my first four pairs of Quarry boots were great. I had each pair for about a year. Then the next-to-last pair only held up for a few months before the leather at the toe basically started to disintegrate, exposing the steel toe and letting in water/mud/etc. One small scratch would quickly turn into a gaping hole. I was upset, but figured maybe it was just me being hard on the boots. I bought another pair, because they used to be a great boot. Something has definitely changed. The most recent pair were tore up and useless within a few weeks resulting from a few minor scratches. The leather is just garbage. The slightest scuff, and they just start falling apart. It's a bummer. I used to love these boots, they were a perfect balance of comfort, style, toughness, and durability. They're still comfortable, but you can't even get a scratch on one now. I will say that the darker leather seems to last a while longer, not much though. You might say, "well, just put those rubber toe protectors on them." I tried that in the last pair. Any scratch next to, or above then will still quickly become a hole.

Comments about Quarry USA 8" Distressed Brown AT:

I have owned several pair of Danner's but this is my first pair of Danner's in the "Work" series. I Purchased these boots in May of 2013 so this review is not a 2-3 month break in. I work for a utility system were I'm out in the elements, on different types of terrain and sometimes for very long hours (24+). This boot has been put thru the mill and it is still going strong. I wear this boot 98% of the time and I can say it is definitely a sound product that is worth the money. Only down fall I have is the laces that came with the boot didn't last 6 weeks but laces are easily replaced.
