Overview

Featuring a rich full-grain leather upper, triple stitching, our durable stitchdown construction and a cushioning Vibram® Duralogical™ outsole, the Workman™ embodies the strength and sturdiness of traditional design, the needed performance for both indoor and outdoor use and the long lasting durability of hand crafted footwear.

How it Fits

Engineered specifically for our Romeo styles, the LR-1 last is a modified version of our popular 850 last. We increased the volume through the instep to allow for easy pull-on, while still maintaining an optimal fit in length, width, volume, and heel capture. Fits true to size.

These have to be the most comfortable pair of shoes that I own. I wear them six day a week and if they weren't so worn out I would wear them to church on Sunday. I work on my feet for 10-14 hours everyday. I have tried every pair of boots you can think of Redwing, Wolverine, Wesco, Halls, Carolina, Georgia, Timberland, Hoffman. None of them come close to the comfort of the boot. THERE IS ONLY ONE PROBLEM, NO SAFETY TOE. DANNER PLEASE PUT A COMPOSITE, ALLOY, OR STEEL TOE IN THESE BOOTS. THE COMPANY I WORK FOR IS GOING TO REQUIRE A SAFETY TOE IN THE NEAR FUTURE, I NEED IT ASAP

Everyday boot

Good boot but I liked the older version that had a lighter Vibram sole better.

Best Uses

Comments about Danner Workman Romeo GTX Plain Toe Work Boots:

I wear the lace up workman as my primary boot. I got these to wear on the weekends and I am very happy with them. I use a your sole arch support that is a half size larger than boot size and it is a perfect marriage. I do wish they were a taller boot but that is just nit picking.

Comments about Danner Workman Romeo GTX Plain Toe Work Boots:

This boot comes in a beautifully lush light leather finish which turns amber when waterproof dubbin type polish is first applied.

They are as comfortable as trainers/sneakers and virtually indestructible in casual use. After 3 years there are still dimples on the sole pattern.

I bought them for general wearing (they are reasonably fashionable, like a very heavy Chelsea boot) and they are always admired and commented upon.

I very quickly wear out footwear or occasionally wreck a shoe in a one-off mud/water encounter. Not so with these, simply the best quality boots I have ever bought. A great bargain with the new Danner import to UK scheme (I had to pay customs duty etc separately)

I found the sizing info on the site accurate - I got the right size

Great workboot, but requires extra care for food & bev.

Pros

  • Comfortable

  • Waterproof

Cons

  • Gortex Liner Can Fail

Best Uses

Comments about Danner Workman Romeo GTX Plain Toe Work Boots:

I've worn this boot every day in my position as a wine cellar technician. It's superb for 12-18 hour days of on-your-feet labor, and the waterproofing holds up decently well under certain conditions.

My only qualm is that the Gortex liner in both boots failed after 6 months of continuous use. I don't know if this was because I was hard on the boots (no visible damage to the leather or stitched seams), or because I've subjected them to an environment of both acidic and alkaline solutions (grape juice, finished wine, and cleaning agents such as sodium percarbonate), and water exceeding 170 degrees F. Just be aware that this can happen, and I don't know if any post-work conditioning to the boots will truly prevent deterioration of this liner.

I still recommend this boot because the fit and comfort is the best I've experienced in a workboot--EVER. I have both super-wide feet and high arches, and the 10.5 EE width shoe fits like a dream.

Comments about Danner Workman Romeo GTX Plain Toe Work Boots:

I absolutely love these boots. I work at hardwood flooring and have worn my pair everyday for the last three years. While they are showing some wear, it seems that durability wise they have another year to go. I wear them to work, hunting, hiking, and around the shop. Perfect balance between durability and comfort. I truly hope that Danner does not stop making these. I will wear this boot for the rest of my life.
