Overview

We borrowed the lightweight, agile Trailguard platform from our hiking boots to engineer this work boot to be nimble and tough from the ground up. This new last is designed to cup your heel for a secure fit while offering a little more room in the toe box to accommodate feet that are carrying heavy loads or changing directions quickly. It also comes with a dual density EVA midsole for extra shock absorption and comfort. The oil and slip resistant outsole has a low-profile, 90 degree heel making it versatile enough for indoor and outdoor work. For really tough jobs, it has an abrasion-resistant heel cap, a non-metallic safety toe and a waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX® liner.

How it Fits

The DLE-01 last was designed to be an extension of the foot with superior forefoot and heel capture, stability and a more anatomical shape for comfort. The additional space in the toebox allows the foot to naturally react when bearing a heavy load or changing directions laterally in high intensity environments.

Comfortable but NOT WATERPROOF

These are super cushony and comfortable, but the area between the tongue and the laces is not waterproof at all. Step in one puddle and your feet will be totally soaked. For me, this was a huge prolem.

Also: I bought these for a 5 month trail work season. While they did last the full season, they were pretty destroyed in the end--not the most durable boots.

I have been buying Danner boots for about 18 years. My first pair I wore everyday to work, and they lasted me two years. They were a vibram sole. They eventually discontinued that style and I have been frustrated over the years trying to find a vibram sole in the 4.5" hiker type shoe. I used the Striker styles for a while and then they went to a danner sole like previous models. I was very pleased to find the vibram sole available again. It just last longer. This pair as with all Danners I have ever owned fit great out of the box and there was no break-in time. My only small complaint is sometimes my big right toe rubs on top next to the bottom of the toe nail on the composite part. I started a new job that needed the composite toe which I have not used since they quit putting it in the Striker style. I then switched jobs and the new company offered me a voucher to local store that only sells Wolverine. Soon after Danner emailed me their T-Day sale and offered me such a great price I ordered another pair. I am even thinking a purchasing another pair, as I am afraid they will quit using the Vibram soles once again. Danner please do not quit using the Vibram soles. And thank you for making such a good product.

This is my husband's second pair. As a mechanic, he works with gas, grease, acid, on a cement floor all day, sometimes in the heat. He said more than once a heavy object has fallen on his foot. The boot saved his foot, he said. They are, as advertised...a work boot.

I've have owned many of the top brands of work boots over the years. Danner boots just fit my foot the best so far. I love that theses boots are so lightweight. Makes long 10+ hour days bearable. I do. Wish they offered this boot in a 6". This is the second pair of Danner boots I have owned And definitely not the last.
