I don't know what all the fuss is about with these boots! I was able to buy mine new on [...] for [$] shipped and have been wearing them every day for almost a year now. They have held up great thus far, and show only minor signs of wear at the crease of the toe (where the two lace flaps rub against the top of the toe when in a kneeling position). Many people have given these bad ratings because their zippers broke. But mine have functioned flawlessly since day one! As long as you fit them in the following order you should be fine: 1) loosen the laces and slip the boot on (unzipped, of course); 2) zip up and then lace snug; 3) unzip and zip a few times to make sure they are not tied too tight to where you must struggle to zip them up completely. These boots are easy to clean up when dirty/muddy. I usually use a wet cloth to get the grime off, then wipe them with a thin coat of leather lotion. I have used both Wilsons Leather and Kiwi leather lotion and they both work well and make the boots look like new again! Also, the comfort of these boots is outstanding! I wasn't kidding when I said I have been wearing them every day for almost a year! And some of those days consist of me walking, climbing, kneeling, etc. for 8-14 hours all day. I often work in hot, humid temperatures and my feet will hardly get sweaty because these boots breath so well. These also keep my feet plenty warm in colder temps. as long as thick socks are worn. I am very happy with the overall quality and performance these boots have provided!

I want to like this boot- but I found a serious flaw. I purchased the boot for the composite toe and zipper function as well as the well-known quality of the Danner line. Only about two months into wearing the boots, the zippers started to fail. One zipper seemed to pop off in the process of zipping up after a call, the other just fell off. I inspect the zippers and found them to be of low quality plastic (cheap). I figure Danner doesn't make the zippers, so it may not be entirely their fault. I just wish they had chosen a more quality zipper on an otherwise great piece of footwear.

Comments about Danner Striker II EMS Side Zip Non-Metallic Safety Toe Uniform Boots:

I have been really happy with this boot until about the 10th time I wore them. I was responding to a call of a knife fight and as I got out of my patrol car. My zipper popped. As I Was running through the store, my boot was falling off. I had the distinct honor of having to duct tape my boot on for the remainder of the shift. I saw that tha sliding part of the zipper was cracked. Do not buy this boot if you rely on them for a public safety application

One problem, but a big one

Comments about Danner Striker II EMS Side Zip Non-Metallic Safety Toe Uniform Boots:

The material of the sole is great.. comfortable dont change a thing. EXCEPT that the shark fin shaped ridge coming up from the ribber sole over the leather where the leather meets the sole (can be seen in picture). I wear EE and it still bit me in the side of the foot near the arch.. Not a sizing issue as far as I can tell.. but having a shark fin/tooth shaped protusion mid shoe on the boot, especially on the arch side seems to be a really bad idea. Is it there for looks or support? Your other boots dont have this and their support is fine. I wish this one did not have it.. its like the thorn in the lions paw. I'll probably cut mine off as it is just rubber on the out side.. or maybe use a heat gun and bend it out.. it looks cool and sharp but why is it there?

      Cheap Zipper ruins good boot

Comments about Danner Striker II EMS Side Zip Non-Metallic Safety Toe Uniform Boots:

Got these as an EMS duty boot. They seem [...] good, high quality boot except that the plastic zipper breaks very easily. I broke the zipper on the first pair the first time I put them on (other than trying them on at the store). I called Danner and they sent a replacement pair, which broke the second time I put them on. I called Danner and had them sent me a lace-up pair. I'll have to get a lace zipper insert. The zipper is made of plastic and is a YKK Vislon brand zipper. If you look around, you'll see that there alot of complaints about these zippers breaking. Danner said that there is no metal in this boot. This is for EMS workers who work at airports. I suggested them use metal zippers and ditch the plastic. I don't nkow if they'll listen....

      DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

Comments about Danner Striker II EMS Side Zip Non-Metallic Safety Toe Uniform Boots:

This is my fourth pair of Danner Stiker Boots and the only reason I had to replace my old pair was that they were simply worn out. When I received my new pair, I was very disappointed to find that they were not the same old striker boot. They were uncomfortable, rubbing against my heel, top of the toes and ankle. Danner would you PLEASSSE!!! bring back the old Striker boot?
