I've been wearing these for over 3 years now in Nuclear Security and am only just now getting new boots because winter is coming to Up State NY again and the soles are like snow skis and I need traction again. The Kinetics have stood the test of time over three years of 12 hour shifts which include walking tours inside buildings, outside in rain, snow, on black top pavement and rocks and of course at the gun range with moving courses of fire and tactical shooting courses and exercises. The leather upper is still in phenomenal condition and has done well holding its shape. The insole is still original and has only shown minimal wear along the edges where it meets the side walls of the leather. Even the original laces are intact, however they are quickly approaching their final days. But, that's to be expected after this long. Within the first 6 months I was concerned over the durability of the sole because in that short time I was already seeing noticeable wear on the heel portion where I predominantly step, but it seemed to level out ok because I'm still wearing them. Granted I really should have upgraded to a new boot last year BEFORE winter because they were a slip liability then, but I really have a hard time spending money on new shoes when the shoe its self is still in great shape. These shoes are not repairable so they'll at best be an emergency boot when I need it, or just end up in the trash. And I hate that idea.
The break in time when I first got these was completely non existent. They really were just that comfortable and flexible out of the box. And for a mostly leather boot they were I felt pretty lightweight and fairly breathable. Yes, there are plenty of lighter and plenty of more breathable boots on the market, but I traded some weight and some breathability for a boot that will hold up for longer and allow me to get more bang for my buck. Perfect athletic fit true to size. Perfect for a run and gun type job spec.

I've had mine for 4 months, I've been through five sets of strings and there is now large hole in the bottom of the sole. The hole has worn through to the mid-sole. 4 months! I've had my Fort Lewis boots since 2003, never had any issues with them. They, Danner, needs to focus on QUALITY and maintaing the integrity of the boot rather than keeping up with the newer style and fashion of "tactical footwear". Those who know will stick with the tried and true Danners, despite how fancy the others are.

Comments about Danner Kinetic 8" Uniform Boots:

I have worn Danner boots exclusively on patrol (Police Officer) for 9 years: During that time I have worn Striker, Telson, and Striker II. When I found out the Telson (best boot ever!!!) was discontinued, I decided to try the Kinetic 8", and man do I regret it.

Out of the box, these boots feel of cheaper quality than other Danner boots. There is little ankle support, and the boots started to lose their shape after less than a month of wear (40 hours per week). They are also the least comfortable Danners I have worn.

This is the first time I have EVER regretted buying Danner boots. Save yourself the disappointment and buy the Striker II's or the Acadia's.

I have been in the military for over 7 years, and have gone through many sets of boots!
But the Danner boots are top of my list! a very good boot for runs, long patrols and weighted marches, the GTX are also good and is one of the lightest GTX boots i have owned! Very comfortable boot, that can be used from brand new straight away into any run or march!

Comments about Danner Kinetic 8" Uniform Boots:

Bought these the day before going to NTC. Wore them every other day for 3.5 weeks in the desert. The laces fell apart after 3 weeks. Maybe the sand did them in? Replaced laces with 550 cord.
Boots comfortable enough to run in. Feels like a pair of socks with a sole. I wanted a good hot weather boot (NTC in June), and I am pleased as these fit the bill.
