Overview

Made in the USA, the Acadia® features Danner’s famous stitchdown construction, providing a more stable platform underfoot and superior durability. This boot has a waterproof breathable GORE-TEX® lining and a combination upper of 1000 Denier nylon and full-grain leather. The Vibram® Kletterlift outsole provides superior shock absorption and great traction on both wet and dry surfaces.

How it Fits

The 650 last offers a sleek, slender profile with a more narrow fit. Boots on this last tend to fit those with a more narrow foot better than those with a wider foot. This ensures a snug fit for terrain and activities that demand support and stability. If you do have a wider foot, we recommend ordering an "EE" (wide) in this style.

I could not find a combat boot in a women's size 6.5. No stores in/near San Jose, CA carry them, not even Boot Barn. I could only find cheap [*] boots that were more like tennis shoes with padding on the ball of the ankle, which did not support my ankle. So, I had to order some, and these were the only ones that matched what I wanted. I was wary about spending over $200 on boots (I'd spend $500 on these boots now that I know what they feel like!), but I would spend way more than that in my lifetime if I kept buying [*] boots that fall apart (y'all know it's true, I'm sure it's happened to you... foot pops out of the bottom of the sole of your brand new shoe). I wear these everywhere: the laboratory, the mountains, the concrete jungle, etc. It doesn't even feel like I have shoes on at the end of a 20 mile death march!!!! It feels like I had my feet up, and my husband was carrying me the whole time… I just can't say enough about these boots. If my feet grow after I have kids (I hear that happens) I will buy more Danner Acadias, but if my feet don't grow anymore, I will not have to buy boots ever again, plus, I'll save money at the doctor! I fell with these boots on, a fall that surely would have had a catastrophic effect on my right ankle if I was wearing "hiking" boots, but nothing, not even a pinch. I must say, "Thank God I have my boots on," a hundred times a day when I'm in the wilderness…These boots are so good, I'm surprised they are not illegal or off limits to civilians… I can't say I couldn't live without them, but I sure wouldn't want to!!My husband bought a knock-off of these about a year ago, and he's about to replace his [*] ones with the real thing.

This is my 5th pair of Danners (first pair of Acadia's) and I hate them. I thought the Acadia would be a "super shoe" by reading the reviews but it is a super disappointment. I'm disgusted that I paid so much and have a boot that's too painful and uncomfortable to wear. I bought them from Danner in December 2010 (order 100010567) and wore them through the winter. I started wearing them again over the last two weeks since the weather is cooling down. I am now limited on what I can do because these boots are too painful and uncomfortable.

I am basically a boat cop/lake ranger so footwear is very important to me as it probably is to you. I stand up on the boat while driving, walk our trails, walk around in the woods looking for illegal hunting, etc. I buy Danners because I don't want to compromise on footwear.

It comes down to this. These boots have no cushion and I can hardly stand to wear them. My feet are sore today from wearing them yesterday. I will be buying new boots when I get the money saved up but it will not be another pair of Danners. It's unfortunate because I currently wear the Danner Pursuit DXT's during the summer and they are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn.

If you sit at a desk and hang out with the admin folks these boots are for you. They look awesome and shine great. If you are on your feet all day I recommend that you keep looking. Please don't make the same mistake I did!

Comments about Danner Acadia Mens/Womens Uniform Boots:

First off this is the first pair of Danner boots I have ever bought/worn. I am very impressed with them, I work Security mostly outdoors in the sun, rain, mud, snow and several other questionable conditions. The boots have held up with minimal wear on the leather. I wear them for an average of 10 hours a day at least 6 days a week. Second I would like to thank Danner. I have had the boots for a little over seven months and the Danner warranty is only 6 months on occupational and work boots. The Gore Tex lining recently started leaking which is not a good thing with all the wet weather we get here in Washington. Even though they were out of warranty the Danner Factory store in Portland still replaced them with a brand new pair. It's nice to find a company that will stand by it's product and it's craftsmanship. [...]

Comments about Danner Acadia Mens/Womens Uniform Boots:

I am a police officer in Alabama and was looking for a comfortable pair of waterproof boots that are long lasting or that could be resoled. Boy did these ever miss the mark! I was a little skeptical about the Danner's due to the price, but figured that you get what you pay for. Let me start by saying that the boots look great. When I got them, I noticed that they did not have removable insoles like every other pair of boots that I have owned (Original SWAT, Bates, Ridge, Magnum, Oakley). However, they did come with the airthotics. I read and found that the mid-sole/in-sole are integrated into the sole under the Gore-Tex liner. Also, the seam for the Gore-Tex Liner is located in the middle of the foot bed which travels the length of the boot which I found to be very uncomfortable when walking. Besides Ridge, I would have to say that these are the most uncomfortable boots that I have ever worn. Also, I found out that the traction is not that great on wet floors. For the price, Danner leaves comfort lacking!

Comments about Danner Acadia Mens/Womens Uniform Boots:

I originally purchased these boots to replace my cheaper service issued boots about 11 years ago. When I purchased these boots I was a patrol officer and I used them 12 months a year. The boots fit like a glove and polish to a very high gloss. Once I was promoted I purchased my second pair of Danner boots about three years ago and wear them from November to about April daily during the winter months in and out of the office. I am so impressed with Danner boots that I now offer them to my front line officers as issued equipment. The officers that select Danner boots love them. At this time about 30% of my front line officers are issued with Danner boots. I must say these boots take a while to break in but I would honestly say that they take no longer than any other boot that I have owned to break in. Having said this, once the boots are broken in they fit like a glove!!! These are great boots!

Comments about Danner Acadia Mens/Womens Uniform Boots:

I bought these boots based on the reviews and the reputation of Danner for quality. I have no complaints about the construction and materials; these feel and look like they'll last forever. Plus they just look cool.

I wear them everyday in an urban setting and walk an average of 3 - 5 miles a day. I've worn these on 10 - 15 mile walks in the city I live in too. Overall they are stable and firm yet comfortable. But after several weeks of wearing them -- granted not every single day -- they still don't feel quite broken in. It may be a combination of the nylon mesh and stiff, high quality leather Danner uses, but it seems like it will take these boots a long time to conform to my feet and lower legs.

The main suggestion I have for these boots is regarding the heel area -- I find it to be lacking shape and support. Every other boot and shoe I own fits me fine, but these slip in the heel, even laced tightly while wearing boot socks. The front of the boot fits fine and feels comfortable. I'm hoping that, once the leather breaks in, the heel will hold better. Also the 1/3 insole insert doesn't seem to do much; I would recommend that Danner provide a full insert.

Overall, though, these seem like a good investment and one that I would recommend to others. I wanted to love these boots but don't yet; hopefully with heel-counters and more of a break-in, I will.
