Tips for the Perfect Fit

  • Measure both feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
  • Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boot. For thicker socks, you may want to select a half size larger than you normally wear.
  • When you do receive your boots, we recommend first wearing them indoors for a few hours to ensure they’re the right fit.

Comments about Danner Fowler GTX 5.5" Hunting Boots:

I guide quail hunts in South Georgia and bought these about a year ago. They quit being waterproof after about a month. The sole began to detach from the boot about a month ago. I put them in the trash today.

Comments about Danner Fowler GTX 5.5" Hunting Boots:

This is a pretty good, comfortable boot. I work at an outdoor store and walk 10+ miles a day so this is a fairly comfortable boot. I love the fact that it's 5.5" and it's Gore-Tex. I don't like that I wear a D width normally and am size 11 in boots. I bought a 11D boot and realized that I needed a 11.5 EE instead. This boot run at least a half size short and is cut narrow. I also don't like the moc toe on the boot, I wish there was a plain toe like the 8" version that was offered. All in all, this is a good boot. Lightweight and it's more comfortable than some athletic shoes that I wear. Would buy again, just change sizes.

A good all around field boot.

Comments about Danner Fowler GTX 5.5" Hunting Boots:

As a outdoor photographer doing work in conjunction with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, I needed a light weight good soled boot that will work in various terrain as well as look good while in uniform meeting the public. This boot, unlike most "hiking boots" is light weight and does not give the wearer the feeling of being noisy when walking, stalking, or in a building.

One point I overlooked was the fact that an 11 GTX boot is a tight book since I did not read the sizing information and the use of boot socks. Consider purchasing a half size larger. Luckily, I can give my first pair to one of my sons since he is not mansize yet.
