Tips for the Perfect Fit
- Measure both feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
- Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boot. For thicker socks, you may want to select a half size larger than you normally wear.
- When you do receive your boots, we recommend first wearing them indoors for a few hours to ensure they’re the right fit.
Free Return Shipping

With all you have invested in your hunt, you can't afford to wear cheap boots. In 55 years of elk hunting in the Northern Rockies, I've never worn a pair of leather boots as comfortable and dependable as Danner's East Ridge All Leather Hunting Boot. I've subjected this boot to every test I can think of and it has met every challenge. The boots overall comfort and foot/ankle support negates the boot's 5lb dry weight, and the somewhat stiff and clunky vibram sole. The soft and pliable nubuc leather seems to absorb moisture that lays against the goretex liner, and makes your feet feel cold and clammy. I've found that wearing a pair of Danner's Pronghorn Pro crew sock liners under Danner's Pronghorn mid weight Crew socks, keeps my feet comfortable and dry feeling. You'll want to treat your boots with Danner's Boot Care waterproofing for Nubuc, suede, and Fabric, and make sure the leather boot is naturally dry before application. But, I deliberately did not treat my boots before all day hunting trips stomping thru elk wallows, fording streams, and wading thru rain soaked Huckleberry and thimbleberry brush and I could not get the boots to soak through to my socks. I did get some water wicking down into my boots from water soaked pants/socks. But, before you claim your boots leak and return them to Danner for a guaranteed refund, or different boots, put on a pair of rain proof gaiters or rain pants. I did and I can't get these boots to absorb moisture into my feet. One last thing, I ordered my boots, online directly from Danner. They arrived in five days. Danner is a great company to deal with. Measure your feet-get good socks-wear Danner Boots-get out there and stay out there longer-don't let cold, wet, sore, feet end your hunt early. Buy Danner Boots - They are worth the price.

These are great boots, but not quite worth the price. I expected them to be similar to my Acadias, which I have worn in LE for many years and love. My RATs are very comfortable but feel significantly different than my Acadias, so I caution you to not exepct them to be the same.
I started off with the safety toe version which did not fit well at all (too narrow through the toes). Do not expect your safety toe version to be the same size as a non-safety toe boot. A 9 1/2 in one version is not the same as a 9 1/2 in the other. I returned those for the non-safety toe which fit very well. My RATs had a longer break-in period than my other Danner boots, but once broken in are extremely comfortable. They are fairly light considering that they're a sturdy boot. I've had them in all sorts of conditions for a few months and am very pleased.
My biggest concerns, other than price, is that the color is not consistent with the picture and the EGA appears cheap and is also not consistent with the picture. I looked at these boots on a few different monitors and they always appeared to have a brown leather toe and heal, when in reality, it's more of an OD green. The EGA looks like it was just scratched in and doesn't have the same quality that I've come to expect from Danner. It just looks cheap. The EGA is something that should be given its proper due, and Danner whiffed on this one.
So my cons are mostly superficial and not with the comfort or construction of the boots. But for a boot that costs more than $350 to get 5 stars, I want absolute perfection. Otherwise, a very good boot that I'm sure will last for many years.

These boots are hands down the most comfortable footwear I've ever owned. The only thing I do not like about them is how cold they are in snow; however, they are not meant for snow so that's my own fault. Anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors standing or walking, especially in warm weather, these are the boots for you. I work with heavy equipment and do a wide variety of task at work and home and normally destroy a pair of boots withing six months.
Not these boots.
Danner has earned my business for life, that is, if I ever have to replace them, lol.
