The 851 last is an update to our popular 850 last. This last fits true to size with an athletic and supportive fit while providing ample room in the toe. Offering a specific heel shape that locks the heel in place for better fit and comfort on the back end of the boot, this supportive fit is ideal for those needing high mileage performance from their gear.

Tips for the Perfect Fit

  • Measure both feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
  • Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boot. For thicker socks, you may want to select a half size larger than you normally wear.
  • When you do receive your boots, we recommend first wearing them indoors for a few hours to ensure they’re the right fit.

Free Return Shipping
Rest assured that if the boot you receive doesn’t fit correctly, we pay for return shipping back to us. You can order with confidence knowing return shipping is always on us.

Light Weight Boot That Holds Up

By On the Job

  • Great traction
  • Light Weight
  • Warm
  • Waterproof

  • Too warm for summer

Best Uses

  • Cold weather hiking

Comments about Danner Roughhouse Mountain TFX Hiking Boots:

I have had this boot around 5 years and it is still going strong. It has held up, stitching strong, still waterproof, tread wear is acceptable. I mostly use it for colder excursions because for me my feet get too hot in the summer if I wear these. I love how light they are for a full size boot! Oh also I have very wide feet and they came in the extra wide which is a plus for me, fit is great

Bad Lace Bracket Placement

Comments about Danner Roughhouse Mountain TFX Hiking Boots:

I picked this boot up for Elk hunting. On day two I gave up and returned them to the store. The issue was they placed the lower of the three brackets for tying your laces upright on my ankle bone. After two days of wearing these both of my ankles couldn't take that metal pin rubbing on the bone. I ended up exchanging these at the factory store. Danner has great boots and maybe this one works for some but I advise checking the placement of that bracket on your ankles before you buy this style of boot.

        Disappointed. Bottom Lace hook broke

Comments about Danner Roughhouse Mountain TFX Hiking Boots:

After several hiking trips the bottom inside metal lace hook snapped off. The bottom lace hooks catch on the other boot and bend outward. After bending them back several times the left one snapped. Without the bottom lace hook the ankle support is really lacking. I think this could be prevented if the same sturdy hooks that were used on the top of the boot were used instead of the flimsy ones at the bottom. On a positive note the customer service is excellent and they are exchanging the boot for a replacement pair, but I fear with my sloppy walking habits this will happen again.
