The 851 last is an update to our popular 850 last. This last fits true to size with an athletic and supportive fit while providing ample room in the toe. Tips for the Perfect Fit

  • Measure both feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
  • Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boot. For thicker socks, you may want to select a half size larger than you normally wear.
  • When you do receive your boots, we recommend first wearing them indoors for a few hours to ensure they’re the right fit.

Free Return Shipping

Comments about Danner Mt Defiance GTX Brown Hiking Boots:

I'm a long time Danner boot fan and have REALLY enjoyed every pair of workman GTX, Quarry, and pronghorn boots I've owned over the past 8 years. However, these boots crush my toes! The toe pitches really badly towards the front of the boot and after almost a month, the boot isn't getting more comfortable. I've had to stop wearing them because the blistering is so bad. Not sure what I'm going to do with them but I'm really disappointed.

Comments about Danner Mt Defiance GTX Brown Hiking Boots:

I landscape for a living in the Willamette Valley. Wet conditions happen all the time. I have owned these boots for three months, late fall into winter, and my feet are always dry.

Except for soupy mud, which i wouldn't expect from any boot, the traction is solid over all terrain I have encountered. The fit seemed a little narrow at first, but now fits like a glove with medium weight socks on.

My only complaint comes from the lace system. the second to last set of eyelets cause the laces to cut slightly into the front of my ankle if i tie them real tight. The shoe laces also seem to come undone easily if the knot isn't reefed tight. I'm hoping these will work themselves out the further they break in. Which seems to be happening. we shall see.

Comments about Danner Mt Defiance GTX Brown Hiking Boots:

These boots are extremely comfortable, especially for my wide feet. Very light and durable. I purchased these boots last August and have used them in a variety of environments. I wore Asolo before these and I won't be going back.

Comments about Danner Mt Defiance GTX Brown Hiking Boots:

I bought these boots after having read their review in Backpacker Magazine. I wanted a good all-around boot that could be worn while working, hiking in all-weather, and day-to-day. I am in the military and have experienced a variety of boots under a variety of conditions. These are very well constructed and comfortable boots build on a solid platform that provides good stability. I am very pleased with my purchase and believe they are a phenomenal value for the money.
