Tips for the Perfect Fit
- Measure both feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
- Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boot. For thicker socks, you may want to select a half size larger than you normally wear.
- When you do receive your boots, we recommend first wearing them indoors for a few hours to ensure they’re the right fit.

- Hot weather hiking
In previous years I used heavier gore-tex Danner boots. I have lightened my pack weight and find Gore-tex too too hot for summer in California. Plenty of companies are making lightweight boots but none seem to fit my wide forefoot. I seem to keep returning to Danner since they have EE width and reliable info about the foot shape/last. So I gave this boot a try and took it to Yosemite and Desolation Wilderness. Very comfortable for both trips. Desolation Wilderness had several days of rain which I did not expect. I would not deliberately take Danner Extrovert boots for wet weather hiking but they preformed well. Although wet feet are not the end of the world, wet cold feet area a significant concern. I had cold blowing rain some of the time. I took a pair of Reynolds Oven Bags (pot roast size) on the trip and was glad I did. If my feet got cold I could put them over my socks and my cold feet warmed right up. Super thin and they don't tear easily. Cheap insurance for a multi-day trip.

- Cool On Feet
I purchased the low version of these first and they kept cutting into the back of my heel. However, I exchanged them for these "High Tops" and wow, what a difference. I took the on a 50 mile backpack trip through Crater Lake, OR and they did outstanding. Made for drier climates, these are not the boots to wear in heavy rain. Great boot.
