Forest Heights Pittock

|  Style 32614
USA Crafted

Sitting a top the west hills of Portland, you’ll find the Pittock Mansion, a home built in 1914 for the Pittock family who were paramount to the growth of Portland in the late 1800’s an 1900’s. True to their state, the Pittocks hired only Oregon craftsmen and artisans to build the house. It is with the same pride and loyalty that we make the Forest Heights boots.

Built on our 971 last, the Forest Heights Pittock offers the same ergonomic fit and feel as its predecessor styles from Fall '13. With a mix of full-grain leather and waxed canvas quarter panels, the Forest Heights Pittock is unlined, which makes this boot easy to wear in warmer temperatures.

971 Last
This boot is built on a great-fitting, ergonomic new last, the 971. This last fits true to size with more of a gentleman's boot fit. It's easy to wear and comfortable for use in a variety of casual environments.

Tips for the Perfect Fit

  • Measure both feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
  • Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boot. For thicker socks, you may want to select a half size larger than you normally wear.
  • When you do receive your boots, we recommend first wearing them indoors for a few hours to ensure they’re the right fit.

Free Return Shipping
Rest assured that if the boot you receive doesn’t fit correctly, we pay for return shipping back to us. You can order with confidence knowing return shipping is always on us.

The highest quality of boot and in a rare style. Reminiscent of boots that tread through guadalcanal, rommel's african campaign, the river kwai, african queen, and casablanca. I forst ordered a variety of sizes, my feet being 8.5 3E and these boots only available in EE. I settled on size 10 and spent two weeks wearing, conditioning, and stretching them with a broomhandle. They now fit like a second skin, ready for my trip to the tropics after a good spraydown or two with waterproofing. I would try Danners stretching service on the next pair.the service dept recommends using a brush on the canvas immediately to avoid stains setting in and a waterproof spray to protect. When i take off these boots my feet look up at me and ask, "why?" They feel that good.

These are, by far, some of the best boots I have ever owned. I've had them now for 3, going on 4 months and with minimal care they look just as good as they did the day I got them. The style is as timeless as their comfort.

The Vibram 232 mini-lug soles have hardly even begun to show wear and have a smoother front that allows these boots to pivot if you turn on your toes. This might sound like an odd thing to praise but when you're working in a coffee shop and need to walk around the same corner of wet floor repeatedly, this does come in handy. They're not black-tie formal but they also have a significantly small profile which gives them an appearance that works just fine in an office environment.

The stitches between the soles and the boot itself are flawless and have not shown even the slightest bit of wear after almost-daily use walking to and from most places on my college campus. That being said, the stitching on the upper construction has begun to fray just a little bit at the edges. I have not used mink oil or anything else known to break down these stitches but they have shown a little wear. This is, so far, almost entirely cosmetic and only at the seams between the eyelet leather and the rest of the shoe.

That being said, the stitches that you can see on the surface of the shoe have held up well. You will need to let these break in for the first week you have them but you'll realize very quickly that the leather finish is extremely resistant to scratches. Almost any scuff can be buffed out, and with a little Venetian shoe cream applied once about every other month (assuming you wear them regularly), these shoes retain their consistency. I hadn't realized that one of my feet is larger than the other, not sure if I can order a size 12 left and a size 11.5 for my right but that's on me. I would also like to add that the melted tips on the ends of the nylon laces seem significantly more durable than traditional plastic or metal aglets and work just as well. I wish pretty much every shoe company would do this.

Again, these are the best everyboots I've owned. I will definitely be coming back to buy a similar pair at some point, although with this quality I expect to get good use out of these years- I could just as soon see them lasting a decade.
