Tips for the Perfect Fit

  • Measure both feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
  • Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boot. For thicker socks, you may want to select a half size larger than you normally wear.
  • When you do receive your boots, we recommend first wearing them indoors for a few hours to ensure they’re the right fit.

Free Return Shipping

Comments about Danner ICH Olive Military Boots:

I am currently deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. I was issued the ICH as a rapid fielding initiative in March of last year. I broke them in during a training rotation at Fort Polk, LA and have been wearing them about 75% of the time during my current tour (currently at 8 months downrange). The boots have served me well in my job which keeps me on a FOB for the majoirty of my duties. I replaced the standard insoles with these:[@] , and I replaced the thicker boot laces with standard Army boot laces. With that being said, the boots' soles have begun separating from the uppers at the natural crease of the foot. The eyelets have begun to separate from the surrounding material. Other than those two issues, the boots have worn very well. However, as they are named "improved combat hiker" boots, I would expect much sturdier construction. If I were an infantryman, I can only imagine my dissatisfaction at my boots literally disintegrating under my feet while on patrol--perhaps when I need them the most. The outsole is very sturdy, supple and it has incredible traction. I've been through some puddles that pushed right up to the extreme top of the boots' water resistant capabilities. My feet remained dry throughout. However, the thickness and bulk of the boot leads to excessive perspiration (again, not a quality you look for in a "good" COMBAT boot). The ankle support is unsurpassed. This comes with a tradeoff of bulk and heft, though. Be prepared to lug these things around with you.All in all, these boots are about average--which is sub-par for Danner's usually high standards. Given my experiences and the exorbitant cost of the boots, I would NOT recommend them.

Expensive and disposable!

By Jim the hiker

from IL

Verified Reviewer

Pros

  • Ankle support
  • Comfort
  • Easy to get on and off
  • Traction

Cons

  • Leather soaks under rand
  • Not tall enough
  • Nubuck not full grain
  • Price
  • Stitching fails easy

Best Uses

  • Light hikes
  • Sitting on the shelf

Comments about Danner ICH Olive Military Boots:

These boots had several issues for me. The left boot made a hissing sound and when wet it would gurgle. Once the nubuck leather is wet and it will get wet from hikes in snow it will seep under the rubber rand and make your foot cold. the light weight stitching falls apart very fast. I recommend these issues be fixed before paying nearly 400 dollars for this boot!

Comments about Danner ICH Olive Military Boots:

After 3 months the rand had separated from the upper, the sole had started to come off in the front and one of the eyelets came off and they became unusable. If you buy these prepare to send them back soon! These should cost about 50 dollars not [$]!!

Serious discomfort

By Middle of no where Cop

from USA

Pros

  • Sole is awesome

Cons

  • Tongue hurts

Best Uses

Comments about Danner ICH Olive Military Boots:

I was issued these boots for law enforcement rural/wilderness operations. They seem tough and the vibram sole sticks to anything. But, the tongue is so inadequately padded that it causes serious discomfort if pulled anywhere tighter than loose! Danner, please address this serious, serious problem!!

Comments about Danner ICH Olive Military Boots:

This boot is one of the best hiker style boots I have come across. If you are like me and fed up with asolo or another hiker brand this is the way to go. This boot is great for hiking on/around boulders or sharp rocks where the rocks will cut the leather/fabric on your boots. The rand around the boots will protect it very well and keep your investment alive that much longer.

Also the way these are designed they should help protect from mechanical injury from falls and twisting due to the nice ankle support and flush sole so that if you do get your foot sideways it dose not mean you will fall as bad as if the sole had a rim sticking out like on a stitchdown boot.

The only downsides I see to this boot are #1 the lack of a full gusset tongue, granted it helps you get the boot on and off but its a huge doorway for water to get inside. #2 their is alot of stitching around the sides of the boot, for the upper rand and that could get cut on the rocks and fail.

Other than that this boot is the best hiker I have seen, Asolo has let me down and now danner has made a very nice boot albeit expensive. If you need a serious hiker this is the one!
