Quick Overview

Lightweight and responsive, yet with all the rugged durability you demand, the Tanicus will stand up to the elements and keep you on your feet and focused on the mission.
Details

Focus on the mission, your feet are covered.

With the same rough-out leather and rugged nylon that you expect from Danner, we built the Tanicus to be our lightest military boot that is theater ready. Featuring an added layer of cushioning in the midsole and a dampening heel cup, we used a polyurethane footbed to ensure that comfortability won't break down over time. The waterproof liner keeps you dry, while the outsole's pentagonal lug pattern gives you stability in diverse terrain. We recommend women select 1.5 to 2 full sizes down for correct fit.

Rough Out Leather & 1000 Denier Nylon Upper
Our rough-out, full-grain leather upper is legendary for its durability. We pair it with 1000 Denier nylon for superior protection.
Danner Dry
100% waterproof barrier allows moisture to escape without letting water in, keeping your feet dry and comfortable all day long.
Lace Garage
Prevents loose laces from snagging or dragging. At the top of the boot's tongue is a stretch fabric pocket designed to tuck your lace ends into.
Non-Metallic Toe (NMT)
Our non-metallic toe does not transmit heat or cold. Nor will it set off metal detectors. As expected, it meets or exceeds ASTM F2413-11 M I/75 C/75 EH standards.
Danner Tanicus Outsole
Pentagonal lugs give maximum surface contact for grip in a variety of terrain.
Extended Sizes
To accommodate more people, we've made this boot in extended sizes. We recommend women select 1.5 to 2 full sizes down for correct fit.
How It Fits
The 851 last is an update to our popular 850 last. This last fits true to size with an athletic and supportive fit while providing ample room in the toe. Offering a specific heel shape that locks the heel in place for better fit and comfort on the back end of the boot, this supportive fit is ideal for those needing high mileage performance from their gear.

Bring back Sage TFX!

By SrA ORANG

from Portland, Oregon

Comments about Tanicus 8" Sage Green Danner Dry NMT:

My last pair of Danners were the USAF TFX Sage NMT boots... Which I wore until the soles wore through and the safety toes were poking out! Those are still in my closet for work around the house--I would send them back for refinishing but they're not of the construction that can be redone. They still make the TFX boots in Tan and now in Coyote, why were the Sage ones discontinued?

I wouldn't buy another pair of these; it took a full two weeks to break them in to a point where they were no longer painful (seriously!) to wear. In fact, I put them in the closet for a full month and was wearing standard issue boots before I pulled them out to give them another try. Once you get them broken in they are okay in the comfort department, but they do not breathe at all. Compared to my old Gore-Tex TFX boots, my feet are pretty damp by the end of a day wearing these, even in the temperate PNW climate. If I were wearing these in the desert, my feet would have rotten away.

For those of us who are required to wear steel or safety-toe, this is the only current offering from Danner. Unfortunately, I'd recommend you save your money and take the standard issue boots from supply over these!

just about perfect

Comments about Tanicus 8" Sage Green Danner Dry NMT:

First ordered a 13 which is mostly what I wear sometimes a 13.5, had to return the 13 for a 14 for the lack of a 1/2 size. Im 6'4 225 lbs. I wanted a light boot for hiking, with or without a 50lbs ruck. First off these boots are like a cloud out of the box wore them around the house light and comfortable, took them on a 9 mile hike on the Devils Path in the Catskills (very very hard trail) no hot spots at all. only wish they made 1/2 size on the down hill toes did slide forward into the nmt. up hill they were good. Walked thru rivers no problem. only other issue I felt was at the ankles they did rub a little toward the end of the day, the material is stiff between the last eyelet, and the first ankle ring, I had to skip that ring so the material would flare outward rather then in ward to the ankle bone. maybe replacing the foot bed with a higher volume one could use up a bit more room, and possible some shims to raise the angle slightly, might be over working it but happy feet and miles just drift off. ( btw I fit ski boots)

If they come out with 13.5, I would buy one dry and one hot, otherwise I will run these into the earth as maybe get another, would defiantly if there was a 1/2 size

Comments about Tanicus 8" Sage Green Danner Dry NMT:

Got these for safety toe and Danner brand for Texas summers. While dry boots are great, seemed not breathable. Returned these and was refunded promptly. Return was easy/painless. Unfortunate because boots seemed comfortable.
