My old TFX Hunters finally gave up the ghost this summer while scouting for archery elk season early Sept. Wanted a new pair of lt.wt. boots and saw these on the website. Was leaning toward the low uninsulated pronghorn or pathfinder EE's which fit me well. The factory store didn't yet have the high ground in house, had to order a pair. Well a D width came in and I tried it on, not real tight so I fig'd the EE's would be perfect. Got the EE and its a nice snug secure fit right out of the box! This boot will not reguire a break in period, the new upper lock lacing is a nice feature. Hope to get out this wknd and put them to the test before start of season. These should be a "run and gun" boot.I think I bought the very first pair anywhere!

We hut pigs on wheat fields at night here in Texas. From Oct to Mar the wheat is ankle high and cover with dew which is constantly seeping in through the top of the toe. (My feet didn't get wet when I stepped in an Illinois creek but that was only for a second or two). We walk for miles sometimes all night. The only boots that are waterproof are rubber which are too heavy and hot for run and gun hunting. I also had some Danner Jackels that were only waterproof for the first few months. I love the fit and function of Danner's but think its a shame boot makers can claim their products are waterproof when they are in fact not. As I write this review two pair of Danner's have a blow drying shoved inside them.

Comments about Danner High Ground 8" Realtree Xtra Green:

I'm a elk hunter and really liked the boots- light weight and comfortable. But two pairs failed at the seams in the first season and I received new ones and the 3rd failed at the eyelets and are not usable after 20 days. I was offered a 25 % discount on another pair but I will go to another brand.

    Not waterproof

Comments about Danner High Ground 8" Realtree Xtra Green:

Its a shame boot manufacturers can claim their products are waterproof when in fact they are not. My pig hunt was cut short because my feet were soaking wet from chasing pigs across a dew soaked wheat field. I have come to realize the only waterproof boot is a rubber boot, but they are cumbersome and hot when running and gunning.

Comments about Danner High Ground 8" Realtree Xtra Green:

I chucker hunt in Nevada, thought I would try a lighter more flexible boot. Half way through the season the soles have lost there traction and now I can feel every rock. These boots are not good for this rocky terrain the soles wear out fast. I have gone back to the Pronghorns they hold up much much better and now they have brought back the all leather boot that's even better yet.
