Details

Our toughest law enforcement boot

Created with the help of two career Army officers from Fort Lewis, Washington, the USA-made Fort Lewis is FORSCOM approved and loaded with all the features a warrior or law enforcement professional needs. A cushioning Vibram Kletterlift outsole fights fatigue on long marches and is made of a specialized dry ice compound to remain flexible in extreme cold environments and aid in slip resistance. The full-grain leather upper and GORE-TEX lining keeps the boot waterproof. Danner’s famous stitchdown construction gives a more stable platform underfoot and superior durability.

Full-Grain Polishable Leather Upper
Made from a smooth, full-grain leather, this strong and durable upper is completely polishable.
GORE-TEX® (GTX)
100% waterproof and breathable, GORE-TEX® liners ensure that no water gets in, while allowing sweat and moisture to get out.
FORSCOM Approved
Approved for wear by the U.S. Army Forces Command.
Vibram® Kletterlift Outsole
Specifically designed for comfort and durability; the heel provides superb shock absorption and the rubber compound guarantees great traction and stability on both wet and dry surfaces.
Women's Sizing
This boot is available in men's and women's sizing, please ensure that you've selected the correct width for your needs.
Stitchdown Construction
Handcrafted to provide a wider platform, our legendary stitchdown construction offers increased stability underfoot. Many of our stitchdown boots can be recrafted.
How It Fits
The 650 last offers a sleek, slender profile with a more narrow fit. Boots on this last tend to fit those with a more narrow foot better than those with a wider foot. This ensures a snug fit for terrain and activities that demand support and stability. If you do have a wider foot, we recommend ordering an "EE" (wide) in this style.
Recraftable
Extend the life of your boot with our recrafting services. This boot is eligible for a number of services, including part replacement, leather care and restitching. See our Recrafting page.

I bought these in 98, I wore them on 9-11 when the trade center came down. We were scared and felt like it was the end, I did'nt think twice about having the wrong boots on alive or otherwise. The metal and the shards of debri ripped up boots like they were wet paper. My Danners are still used 13 years later. They were at Katrina in New Orleans and FLT 1549 in the Hudson as well as countless other disasters in NYC where personal safety was paramount, thank you Danner for letting me walk back to my family.Detective NYPD Emergency Service Unit Truck #1

When I was in the Army in the early 90's I bought a pair of Danner's Ft Lewis boots at Clothing Sales. They were great boots and I loved them, wearing them almost daily for the last two years of my enlistment including my deployment to Bosnia and beyond. Sadly they were lost in a move.

Deciding to replace them I purchased another pair a little over a year ago. While wearing them I was dissappointed in how my heel felt unsupported once I'd been walking for a bit. Nothing I did as far as lacing, sock choice etc, could fix this. From the beginning I was also shocked by how thin the leather in the upper and toe box was. It was like sneaker leather certainly not good quality thick boot leather. They were in fact a bit floppy. The leather was so thin that when I slipped against a rock while hiking, the rock edge tore completely through the leather on the side of the boot, like it was fabric, exposing the inner layer of, I guess, Gore-tex. Any other boot would have had a nice scrape but would not have been torn though. So they lasted less than one year due to that mishap.

This is completely unacceptable for boots costing over $300.

Comments about Fort Lewis 10" Black:

Two years ago I purchased a pair of the Fort Lewis Uniform Boots and Wow are they awsome. They are very comfortable, and just dont wear out. They are my all around boot. I always wear them whether i am hiking, fishing, or hunting. Plus they are such a good looking boot i can wear them in public. My favorite part is they are made in America. It's real hard to find a good boot still made here. Special thanks to Danner for the wonderful craftsmanship of a great American made boot.
