Explore beyond the familiar

Inspired by decades of legendary hiking boots, we partnered with Vibram to forge a new path in hiking footwear. The combination of the Vibram SPE midsole and Fuga outsole gives an unparalleled grip on wet and dry surfaces while providing superior cushioning without the weight. Designed to withstand the climate and terrain of the Pacific Northwest, we utilized a rugged, waterproof suede upper and Danner Dry waterproof protection. The Mountain 600 defines a new category in hiking boots we call Performance Heritage - combining our classic styling with lightweight innovation.

Vibram SPE midsole

The Danner Mountain 600 features the Vibram SPE (Specialized Performance Elastomer) midsole, an all-new, technical compound engineered to deliver greater comfort and flexibility. Created with a unique co-polymer blend of synthetic natural rubber and EVA, this midsole improves resiliency, cushioning, and durability, while minimizing weight.

Vibram Fuga outsole with Megagrip

By combining the SPE midsole with the Vibram Fuga outsole, we were able to achieve the perfect balance between flexibility and traction. The pliable SPE midsole and flex lines of the Fuga outsole allow your foot to expand to a wider surface, while the unique self-adaptive lug pattern grips at multiple angles. This combination provides ultimate stability when traversing rocky trails or scree. The entire outsole is injected with Vibram’s Megagrip rubber technology for ultimate hold on wet and dry terrain.

Waterproof protection

Drawing from years spent building durable leather hiking boots, we selected a specific suede for the Mountain 600, knowing that its lighter weight, waterproof and superior abrasion-resistant qualities would hold up to the rugged Pacific Northwest. We designed the boot to have minimal seams and lined it with Danner Dry to ensure it could withstand the wettest conditions.
Suede Upper
These uppers are made from rich, thick, durable suede.
Danner Dry
100% waterproof barrier allows moisture to escape without letting water in, keeping your feet dry and comfortable all day long.
Vibram® SPE Midsole
This rubberized EVA midsole maintains the same cushioning properties as traditional EVA, but is more durable and won’t break down as easily. This technology enhances rebound, comfort and support.
Vibram® Fuga Outsole
With its self-adapting lugs and specially formulated Megagrip compound, this outsole provides incredible grip on both wet and dry surfaces.
How It Fits
Designed for versatility, the DPDX has a low profile for everyday wear. Whether on the trail or urban exploring, this last was built to offer enough room for comfort while maintaining a sleek profile. Ortholite footbed included. Please note the Mountain 600 fits slightly large and we recommend sizing down a half size for best fit.

Love these boots! I literally tried on 16 different pairs of hiking shoes before settling on these. Definitely not a "traditional" hiking shoe - flexible, soft cushion sole felt more like a trainer but it was still stiff and supportive enough to allow for "eyes-up" walking so I wasn't staring at the ground during my hikes.

Pretty warm. My feet were sweating when weather was over 75 but they didn't seem to retain a ton of moisture compared to my other Gore-Tex boots. I think they'll be killer in the winter. I walked through some puddles and shallow streams and these babies are totally waterproof, as advertised.

They look pretty awesome too :) I've had a bunch of compliments since I've been wearing them.

These boots fit so well and were so comfortable right out of the box that I decided to wear them on a 30 mile backpacking trip in the Ouachita National Forest. After three rainy days of rocky terrain, six steep ascents and descents and several small water crossings while carrying a 35lb+ pack my feet took an absolute beating. The outsole is simply not robust enough to provide protection from rocks, and I felt every one I stepped on. My feet were soaked if I stepped in water deeper than 2 - 3 inches. I developed an aching pain across the top of my right foot by day three and both ankles were sore. These boots would be great for some light day hiking, but I would not recommend them for serious backpacking. However, the sneaker-like flexibility makes them lightweight and they look great. I wear size 11 EE Danner work boots, but based on other reviews I went with a 10.5 D and they were just right.

Comments about Mountain 600 4.5" Brown/Red:

As a long-time fan of Danner's hiking boots, I believe that these Mountain 600's are the best-fitting, most comfortable, yet rugged boots I've ever had the privilege of owning! Despite their deceivingly light weight, I believe that they should provide many years of service. Highly recommended!

Seem to run big

By Maverick

from Truckee, ca

Comments about Mountain 600 4.5" Brown/Red:

Normally I'm a size 10, but these came in wide so I got a 9.5 wide. I have a pair of Asolo tps 520 in 9.5 wide and it's perfect, but with these I could have gone with a size 9 wide. Brooks cascadia I'm 10, Patagonia Boris I'm 10, Shimano I'm a 44, keen I'm 9.5 and a Teva riva 10.

I put them on and wore them to work and they are instantly comfortable. I think these will be perfect for daily use this winter in the Tahoe area. Much softer than I expected, I'm a boot guy so I don't think I can backpack with these. FYI, I did get compliments from hipsters the first hour I had them on....

Great looks but the rim of the tongue rubs against the foot

By David Loudermilk

from Santa Clara, Ca.

Comments about Mountain 600 4.5" Brown/Red:

Love the boots except the top rim of the tongue will definitely rub against the top front of the foot above your ankle. Wear very thick socks or you will have skin abrasions.
