Tips for the Perfect Fit

  • Measure both feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
  • Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boot. For thicker socks, you may want to select a half size larger than you normally wear.
  • When you do receive your boots, we recommend first wearing them indoors for a few hours to ensure they’re the right fit.

Comments about Danner Desert TFX Womens Rough-Out GTX Military Boots:

Wore these boots for eight months in Afganistan at a Forward Operating Base. Kept me dry in the rainy season and breathed fine in the hot weather. Never had a complaint to say about them. Just wish you could get the same boot in black for wearing with my green uniform.

Comments about Danner Desert TFX Womens Rough-Out GTX Military Boots:

From the moment I put these boots, on, I knew right away that these were the most comfortable and lightweight boots I'd ever put my feet in! They felt as light as tennis shoes, yet proved themselves to be very durable, as I have worn them through very rigorous training in many different climates and environments, from Airborne Training at Fort Benning, to Field training in the middle of Michigan winters. I would recommend these boots to everyone!

Comments about Danner Desert TFX Womens Rough-Out GTX Military Boots:

I fell in love with these boots the second I tried them on. I was so surprised by how light and comfortable they were! Admittedly, I am a civilian, but they have served me remarkably well and kept my feet cozy, warm, and dry over the last few years through rain, snow, dirt, concrete, and mud, for hiking, camping, riding horses (occasionally), working on undeveloped property or construction sites, welding and machining, everyday wear, and military simulation airsoft at military training sites like the Government Training Institute's facility.

I intentionally selected "water resistant" as a pro and "not water resistant" as a con because the boots are water resistant, but not long-term. To be fair, Danner's warranty only guaranteed the waterproofing for six months, and my boots retained that quality for far longer than that. I've had them for at least two years now, and the first time I got water in them was within the last few months, when I sloshed through a "puddle" of near ankle-deep water during a downpour. Also, the laces are pretty flimsy; I still have my original laces, but the plastic ends wore off long ago and I had to tie off the ends to prevent the laces from unraveling (however, this is really a very minor issue as far as I'm concerned). Also, the traction and interior lining started wearing out more quickly than I expected, but I suspect that's largely my own fault for walking on concrete all the time and not unlacing them properly when taking them off.

All in all, I have been delighted with these boots. They are by far the most comfortable pair of footwear that I own. I'm about to purchase my second pair of these, and am even planning to keep the old ones as a backup pair, since they still hold up pretty well in most weather conditions. They are expensive, yes, but I was willing to pay a higher price for quality, and I feel I have gotten what I paid for.

Very comfortable, worked great without much break-in time, does feel half a size too big though. Would order smaller next time.
