USA Crafted

Improved durability and comfort, with the same fit and feel that craftsmen have come to rely on. Now made in Portland, OR.

Our most popular work boot – now built in Portland, Ore. We’ve developed a new Vibram Quarry outsole and upgraded the midsole to a single, solid piece for increased longevity. We’ve also updated the collar liner to be instantly comfortable and re-engineered the placement of the triple-stitching to reduce wear and tear over time. Using our universal 610 last, the US-made Quarry has the same fit and feel as its predecessor.

  • 100% waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX® lining
  • Full-grain, all leather upper provides classic design with superior protection
  • Danner's hand crafted stitchdown construction provides a wider platform for increased stability underfoot
  • Triple stitched for superior endurance
  • Rugged hardware for secure fit and long lasting performance
  • New exclusive Vibram® Quarry outsole features 90º heel, oil and slip resistant rubber compound, and non-linear lug pattern for superior traction and debris release
  • Fiberglass shank
  • Alloy toe meets or exceeds ASTM F2413-11 M I/75 C/75 EH standards. Electrical hazard (EH) footwear is manufactured with non-conductive electrical shock resistant soles and heels
  • 8" Height
  • 76 oz per pair
  • Recraftable
  • Made in USA with imported components

610 Last
The 610 is our most universal last and can be worn by all foot shapes and sizes. It provides a snug fit through the heel while allowing ample toe room for most versatile fit. This allows more support and side-to-side movement.

Tips for the Perfect Fit

  • Measure both feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
  • Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boot. For thicker socks, you may want to select a half size larger than you normally wear.
  • When you do receive your boots, we recommend first wearing them indoors for a few hours to ensure they’re the right fit.

Free Return Shipping
Rest assured that if the boot you receive doesn’t fit correctly, we pay for return shipping back to us. You can order with confidence knowing return shipping is always on us.

        problem with shape of soles

The soles on these boots have a pronounced curve to them. When you stand in these boots you can rock side to side because of the curve in the sole. This makes it easy to rollyour ankle.
There is so much curve that only the very center of the soles actually touches the ground. You wear out the center of the sole before the edges do. Expected better from a US made boot. I did not see this problem with the soles in the 3 previous pairs of offshore quarries I owned.

These are simply the best work boots I have found in their class. I was looking for a boot to replace my Rocky Rangers, which lasted 3 years of heavy use before the soles began to crack and de-laminate (leather too damaged to re-sole). The Rockies were great, but the Danners are better. When I say "best in class", I mean an all-leather (oil-able), un-insulated, hard-toe work boot with padded tongue/collar and deep tread on the sole. This combination of features is difficult to come by. Rocky Rangers and Wolverine Northman's are comparable but do not fit me as well as the Quarries.

I bought and returned a pair of Wolverine Northman uninsulated boots that were similar in quality/looks/price to the quarry. However, when I tried them on they seemed to be made for a giant's legs and feet. I had to tighten them until the eyelets were almost touching eachother before they felt somewhat snug. The ankle and forefoot were big and wide but the toebox was narrower than the Quarries.

I received the China-made Quarries before realizing that Danner had just started making the USA-made versions for the same price. I also noticed a defect in the liner that rubbed the inside of my big toe, so I exchanged them for a USA-made pair. These boots are perfect. They accommodate my low-volume feet, allowing me to get a nice snug fit, yet the toebox is roomy (none of my toes rub against the sides/front of the boot)allowing my toes to spread out naturally. The construction quality is evident upon first taking them out of the box (and no defects). The ankle support is fantastic and the padded tongue and collar are very comfortable. I work off-pavement often, so I needed a boot with good tread, and this boot fits the bill.

They will probably take a week or two to break in, but that is to be expected with high quality all leather work boots. I'm sorry to disagree with a previous reviewer, but you can't fault a boot for break-in time; all leather, thick-gauge boots of any kind require a break-in period. If that's an issue, I guess you should buy used. Also, you cannot fault a boot for waterproofing issues if you do not take the time to oil your boots! Leather requires maintenance to preserve and waterproof it. Anyone who spends a lot of time working or playing outdoors knows that goretex on its own does not provide 100% waterproofing. I wear my work boots outside exclusively and Obenauf's boot oil is the best product I have found. Beware of other similar products like KG Extreme (an inferior product). I believe that with good maintenance, these boots will last several years until the sole goes out, after which it can be re-soled.

When it comes down to it, every person's feet are different and another boot may fit another person better. But, I must say that for my feet, these are by-far the most comfortable work boots with all the other features I needed. If you need a pair of work boots that you can maintain (all leather), are un-insulated, have great ankle support, are waterproof, have a hard toe, and deep lugged traction, this is probably your best choice and worth every penny. I have never spent so much on a pair of boots, but out of the box it is obvious that you get what you pay for. Enjoy.

I love the ankle support of these boots, it helps with climbing posts and other scaffolding components. The steel toe is fantastic, unlike cheap boots, they stay on your dang toe! I use toe protector to stop the leather from spliting. Although great boots, it took some time for them to break in, talk about a nightmare for my feet. I'm also conidering taking them in for a double stitch in the sole. My last quarries (chinese) soles almost fell off my feet.

Amazing comfortable all around boot for the money! Pretty much felt broken in after day 1. Comfortable for long periods even through evening hours after a long days work! Really can't say anything bad about these boots.
