Danner's 650 EE last offers a roomier fit for relaxed comfort while still offering rugged support and stability. This EE is not as wide as others so it offers the most universal fit for casual, everyday wear. We recommend sizing down a half size for the best fit. For this Mountain Trail style, If you have a low arch, we also suggest adding a footbed for a tighter fit.
Tips for the Perfect Fit
- Measure both feet. If one foot is slightly larger than the other, select a size that fits the larger of the two.
- Consider the type of socks you’ll be wearing with your boot. For thicker socks, you may want to select a half size larger than you normally wear.
- When you do receive your boots, we recommend first wearing them indoors for a few hours to ensure they’re the right fit.
Free Return Shipping

Comments about Danner Mountain Trail:
I own lots of Danners, including the Gore-Tex versions of these boots. If you need Gore-Tex, or want to hike 30 miles (which you legitimately could do in these boots) I still recommend boots with high tech synthetics, like the Light II or Lights.
Here's what makes these special:
1. The leather is super soft right out of the box, including the beautifully done leather linings.
2. They are good looking and stylish - an issue for around town wear.
3. The sole is thinner and better for office & city walking, but still has enough traction if you'll wear them in the woods.
I like these because having a leather lined boot without Gore-Tex allows me to wear this style of boot in warmer weather.
These seem to fit a bit looser than the Gore-Tex versions, but not enough to go down a 1/2 size. You should still get your normal Danner size for this boot, but they may feel a bit loose. No break in was needed at all.
Once upon a time I would not have hesitated to climb Mt. Katahdin in boots like these, but nowadays I'd wear my Gore-Tex Danner Lights. For around town, or day hikes, these would be great. With some wool socks they'd be fine for winter, too. Unlike other Danners, you should probably take care to treat the leather on these if you'll wear them in rain. If you own good dress shoes you'll understand the fit & finish lives up to the price on these. This leather looks like it will darken with leather treatment, but still look darn good anyway.
Pros

Comments about Danner Mountain Trail:
I own several other pairs of Danners, and I have always liked the durability of the brand. It comes at a price, however, as many of their stichdown boots are a little on the heavy side and feel a little 'clunky' on your feet until you break them in (not exactly a con, just a fact of life). I expected these boots to be like my Mountain Light II's - and I was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case. This boot is incredibly comfortable out of the box. Yes, there will be a break in period, but it shouldnt take longer than a few days. The stainless hardwear looks nicer in person than in the pictures as well - again, a nice surprise. The boot has a very cushy, agile feel to it. It breathes very well, and I can see myself wearing the boot spring-fall and early winter. This boot will definitely be getting more time on my feet than my Wolverine 1000 miles and Salomons in the coming months. Great job Danner!
