i use the boots in rifle competition. needed a hot weather boot that would keep feet ventilated as temps in summer during matches get to 100. very comfortable. my only complaint is that the upper is made too wide. i ordered narrow size and the lower fits great. but when i lace the uppers and snug the laces, the speed lace loops nearly contact each other. almost like a narrow sole but medium or wide upper. As such, ankle support is not optimal. otherwise the boot is extremely comfortable. waiting for testing in hot weather. i really like the leather toe and heal caps. these areas get dirty and scuffed easily and this is faster to clean than the standard military boot.

Not my first pair of Danners and I would'nt go on my extreme adventures with anything else but these are the best yet.I chose the hot weather cuz Im in the desert and for me these can do it all...when temps drop and the water comes out I just put on my waterproof cold weather socks and then their a great cold weather boot as well. I wear them for everything from working on a roof installing solar to nailing down wood floors....but the most telling example is a recent 50 mile hike in 3-1/2 days with 20 miles worth in shin deep water with 55 pounds on my back...I could'nt be happier, 3 other people had to tape and/or toss their boots when we got back! mine looked like they never left and not even a blister! The last time I did such a hike with an inferior boot I had several blisters and lost 7 toenails....Now for my complaints: They cost TOO much!They are heavy but I didnt expect a boot this hardcore to be lightweight and u dont feel it really until the last few miles of 18 mile day. not a problem.The next couple things probably wouldn't be a problem for a "normal" foot people...but for me with my extremely flat feet and pronated ankles there were these issues; the ankle strap seemed low and was not as supportive as my other "cheaper" Danners. Though the flexibility of this boot adds to the comfort, this could have been remedied with a better insole.... which leads to the reason I only gave 4 stars and my only true complaint.....The insole....I really expected better from a boot in this price range, my previous Cheaper Danners insole was 10 times better. It offers no real arch support, theres no heel cup and after the basic closed cell foam compress's it lacks the shock absorbing ability in the ball and heel of better quality insoles...Tch, Tch, Tch, come on Danner I expected better from you, especially in a boot of this caliber.....I remedied the problem by spending an additional $45 on a good insole and the boots are perfect now I love em more than any boot Ive ever owned!But when I spend over [$] on a boot I didn't want to have to get aftermarket parts for it!....I'll let you slide this time though since they are so awesome...lol....over all great boot I'm sold and spoiled, no lesser boot will ever do anymore....with 200 miles on em and at LEAST another 800 left in them, they are worth it...Thanks

two years in Afghanistan with these boots loved them although they were the temperate version they did get a bit hot in the summer but other than that they were exceptional, comfortable and unbelievably durable!!! going to send them in to be reconditioned they have lived a hard live but they have gone above and beyond the call of duty... outstanding boots!!!!

I´m engineer, and I use that boot, every day, from six months ago, the only bad thing is the polyurethane heel and toe covers too weak, scratches and damages from the first use.

If you don't need gore-tex... these are great.
