Despite the "imported" stigma, these boots are well built and live up to the Danner quality standard. They are unlined, but the leather uppers are very thick and durable--almost to a fault, since they require a considerable break-in period. Lacing the boots too tight makes them uncomfortable. I am 6' and 145 lbs. and have a low-volume foot; I believe this helps make the fit comfortable for me. I am thankful for a good insole for absorbing shock, and an equally durable and quiet outsole for walking without announcing myself at work. It has been said that these boots are attractive to women, and that was proven on my first day wearing them--multiple double-takes and compliments from random women on the street whom I did not know. The color of the leather is rich and brown--mouthwatering to look at--and the styling is subtle--bridging the gap between casual dress Oxfords and a more utilitarian, classic hiking boot look. A few days on the motorcycle, with the top of the left boot operating the shifter pawl, has left no ill effects on the leather. These are not boots for hiking outdoors or braving the rain or snow--things my other Danners do without flinching--but they are perfect for the office, theater, dinner, etc.
