Details

Our traditional LE boot, available exclusively from Danner

Back by popular demand and only available directly from Danner, our all-leather USA-made Blackhawk II boot is well suited for the squad car or the chase. It features GORE-TEX lining for waterproof, breathable protection and a full-grain leather upper for durability. Danner’s famous stitchdown construction provides a wider platform for greater stability underfoot. The 6” height gives added ankle mobility and comfort while the Vibram 1276 Sierra outsole provides support and traction.

Danner Direct Only
This classic boot is handcrafted in our Portland, Ore. factory. While most of our boots are available through our many retail partners, this exclusive style is only available for purchase directly through our website
or in our Danner stores.
Full-Grain Polishable Leather Upper
Made from a smooth, full-grain leather, this strong and durable upper is completely polishable.
GORE-TEX® (GTX)
100% waterproof and breathable, GORE-TEX® liners ensure that no water gets in, while allowing sweat and moisture to get out.
Vibram® 1276 Sierra Outsole
Lightweight comfort with superb shock absorption, this outsole uses a rubber compound that guarantees great traction and stability on both wet and dry surfaces.
Stitchdown Construction
Handcrafted to provide a wider platform, our legendary stitchdown construction offers increased stability underfoot. Many of our stitchdown boots can be recrafted.
How It Fits
The 650 last offers a sleek, slender profile with a more narrow fit. Boots on this last tend to fit those with a more narrow foot better than those with a wider foot. This ensures a snug fit for terrain and activities that demand support and stability. If you do have a wider foot, we recommend ordering an "EE" (wide) in this style.
Recraftable
Extend the life of your boot with our recrafting services. This boot is eligible for a number of services, including part replacement, leather care and restitching. See our Recrafting page.

This boot is the best boot I have ever worn. I decided to purchase these instead of the Acadias which I have previously owned. The fabric on the side of the Acadias tends to fray over time giving a worn out look. With the all leather boot it always holds a perfect shine no matter how old the boot gets. It takes about a week to break them in.

I bought a pair of these in 2005 and they were the BEST boot I ever had. The new pair I bought in 2008 did not compare to the old pair. The leather is cheaper now; I much rather see the boots fitted with the Kletterlift outsole by Vibram; and I started to get side-to-side movement in the heel area (something I never had with my old boots. Ankle support was not as good as 2005 pair.

I love this design (6" boot in black)and with my old pair (from 2005)I not only used 'em for work I LOVED 'em for hiking, too...!!! They held up really well...

Sadly, the pair I bought in 2008 did not compare. It's a real shame, too, as I've been wearing Danner's for a long time (at work and at play)and the thinner and cheaper leather did not hold up well to my 2005 pair.

I also developed plantar fasciitis while wearing the new pair---and that's something I never thought I would get from a pair of Danner boots. I've never had any problems with my 'dawgs while wearing Danner's in the past (and this includes no blisters). Hope the company takes a look at making these boots better, the way they use to be...

Comments about Blackhawk II 6" Black:

Poor quality leather, Corcoran is worse but only just, Red Wing and Alden and Allen Edmonds all use much better quality leather, and Lone Wolf over-shadows all. The build of your (Blackhawk II) boots is great, please use some leather that meets (or exceeds) the build quality. Put made-in-America quality leather in your made-in-America boots ... your Quarry boots [*]have better leather. Thankfully, no speedlacers. Now, while I am at it, I will never ever again send a pair of boots back to be re-crafted at your factory ... what a mess! Sure there was a new pair of soles but the sole edge was ground away needlessly ... the quality available from my local cobbler down the street puts your re-crafting to shame, absolutely to shame. Too bad!

Comments about Blackhawk II 6" Black:

I was so happy to finally get my first pair of Danner Boots. I put them on, and the right boot had a large seam right on top of the inside of the boot, right behind my right toe on my right foot. The Gortex lining ON the tongue was a bit loose on that boot too. The boot was unwearable and I had to send them back. I really have lost faith in Danner. I am not sure if I will be buying another pair. I guess inspector 117 didn't do the job hired to do.
          Disappointed....

I was really happy with everything else about the boots. There would be no break in needed with these boots. If they were only wearable.

Comments about Blackhawk II 6" Black:

I spend all day walking over difficult terrain and through all kinds of hazardous debris and have never experienced any problem with these boots. These are my second pair and I love both. The first pair, purchased 3 years ago, are still in good shape. I needed this second pair because I am serving as a missionary in Africa and only get back to Canada every few years and I wanted a backup just in case. The only downside I found with this pair is the extra cost I didn't anticipate with Canada customs made them somewhat costly. However, keeping my feet in good condition is worth the cost. Will definitely be ordering these boots again when I need new ones!

Comments about Blackhawk II 6" Black:

Purchased the Blackhawk II boots several years back at approx. $160, which is a considerable investment. Overall, I have had a good experience and the design of the boot is unique. The boots keep your feet dry as long as you don't step in water over the top of the boots and get your socks wet. For a six inch boot, they are heavy and not comfortable if worn for an extended period of time. The boots are narrow in the area of the toe box. They have held up well and the leather and construction seem to be top notch. A different, lighter sole that would reduce the overall weight would be an improvement. I am not sure whether I would recommend these particular boots due to the excess weight.
