Black Boot Dressing
An expert always takes care of his tools because he knows his tools take care of him. Danner boots are no exception and Danner Boot Dressing is the key to maintaining their quality. This premium dressing is formulated to keep black leather* from drying and cracking and should be used to recondition boots after hard use.
Boot Dressing Compound is water resistant and allows for breathability. This is especially important to GORE-TEX boots, as the waterproof membrane needs to be able to breathe through the leather to work most efficiently.
*For use on full-grain leather only. For nubuc, suede or rough-out leather, try our Waterproofing Spray.

Comments about Danner Black boot Dressing:
I bet the majority of the people who buy Danners consider the Gore-Tex a big plus. Gore-Tex is great because it keeps your feet dry but still allows your feet to breathe. Leather is also breathable, until you apply polish. Polish sits on top of the leather and clogs the pores. Danner Boot Dressing protects and conditions the leather. After that, you should apply a silicone water proofer that will absorb into the leather and still allow your feet to breathe. Applying multiple layers of polish to your boots will give a great shine, but your feet won't breathe the way they are supposed to.
Bottom line - If you use the boot dressing and then a silicone water proofer, you will maintain a quality, uniform luster. If you want a high polish shine, get a pair specifically for appearance, otherwise you are doing your feet and your duty boots a disservice.

Comments about Danner Black boot Dressing:
First and foremost, this product is not a shoe polish. If you are looking for a glossy spit shine in a can, this is not it.
I work for a uniformed law enforcement agency with an area of operation that encompasses everything from hot, dry, summer desert conditions to cold, wet rain and snow. I frequently work in remote areas and travel on foot. After a few years of tough use, my Danner Acadia uniform boots were pretty well worn. I purchased some black Danner Boot Dressing with hopes of revitalizing them a bit.
The product is similar to a mink oil paste, but with a black dye in it. It is best to apply in warmer temperatures if possible. I cleaned off my boots with a hose, let them dry, removed the laces and applied the product per instructions on the can. A horsehair polish brush is useful to apply the dressing. I let my boots sit on a boot dryer for a day, came back and wiped off the excess product with a clean cotton rag, per the instructions. The dressing brought some flexibility back into the boot leather, restored the color and did a good job of waterproofing the leather, as I wore them over the next few days at work in wet conditions.
As I mentioned earlier, this product is not a shoe polish. It gave my boots an oily, satin sheen, but definitely not the type of shine you would get from using a traditional wax type polish. I really had to wipe the boots down and let the product be absorbed before I could apply a real polish and attempt to actually shine my boots. It is a good product for use in wet, sloppy weather and is also good for occasional use to restore some life into old boots. Bottom line, I'll keep using it unless I find something better.

Comments about Danner Black boot Dressing:
I got this stuff when I bought my Recon's about six years ago. Those boots are still going strong with the only maintinance required being new soles about every 18 months. I have put my boots through the hell and punishment of patrol work for 6 years and 6 years of harsh Wisconsin winters. They have performed great and I can without doubt say that much of their longevity is due to using this product. Without it, I am sure the salty winters would have already had their way with the leather long ago.
Pros
- A must for all Danners
- A MUST HAVE
- Easy to use
- Fast and efficient
- Great semi gloss shine
- Just wipe on
- The one and only
Cons
- NONE I LOVE THIS STUFF
Best Uses
- ONLY THING I USE
